Prescott Valley is only 1.5 hour drive from Phoenix but 20 degrees cooler at 5500ft elevation, it is only a short drive (15min) from downtown Prescott. Prescott has a quaint downtown area with a courthouse where there are art shows every weekend, nightly bands/dancing and other various entertainment from May-September. Hiking, and mountain biking are popular activities here and there are places to fish. Many people look to retire here because of the weather and the many golf courses. The historic whiskey row is worth a visit. We have many antique stores, and various unique little restaurants and bars.
4th of July we host the oldest rodeo in the world the entire town is busy with lots to do from dancing and bands in the streets, we have a parade and downtown activities.
We have been officially named the Christmas city as the downtown has various activities centered around Xmas the entire month of December (parade, Acker music festival, lighted courthouse, gingerbread village etc...) . Williams is only 1 hour a way and for Xmas the Polar Express is a must with kids.
From our door: Jerome once a mining town is now a place that is artsy with many galleries and unique places to eat. From there head to Sedona. It is only a 30 minute drive from Jerome or a 1 hour drive from our home. Sedona's red rocks will leave you breathless. Go hiking, or take an off road jeep tour or just explore the touristy downtown area.
Flagstaff a 1.5 hour drive a true mountain town 7500FT elevation is 15 degrees cooler they have a ski resort open in the winter. It is a good day trip location to enjoy the pine trees and the downtown area for site seeing and shopping or a day of hiking. Grand Canyon is only an hour drive from Flagstaff or 2 hours from here and well everyone knows it is one of the world wonders! So much to do! or you can just relax and stay here! We are excited about the opportunity to swap houses we did our first exchange this summer visiting NYC and loved it!. We love our home and take good care of it and we assure you we would do the same with yours. My name is Joanne my husband Brian and I live to travel. We are always planning the next adventure.
