Description of our house

We love our very comfy home in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. We have 3 bedrooms one of which is used as an office. The master bedroom has a queen bed, private bathroom and a window view of our lush garden. The 2d bedroom can accommodate two persons. Our living room is quite spacious with a TV, VCR, DVD, stereo, turn table, piano, sofa and welcoming chairs. The dining room contains a buffet and a table that seats 8. The view from the dining room overlooks our back garden. Our kitchen is the heart of our home. We spend many hours with friends in this room. It has the usual stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Our kitchen is light and airy. We can exit to the garden through our kitchen and another door exits to our 2 car enclosed garage and laundry room. The back garden is our pride and joy. We have a grapefruit tree, an orange tree, a pomegranate tree and other flowers, veggies, and foilage. Most are on a drip irrigation system.

Our neighborhood

Our neighborhood homes are on an acre or 3/4 of an acre. That gives us a little distance and at the same time the opportunity to be friendly. We know all our neighbors. We are in a street that ends in a cul-de-sac and thus very private. The neighborhood is quiet and yet only 2 to 3 miles from grocery stores, bakery, movie theatre, shopping, etc. Lovely restaurants are within a 2 to 5 mile radius. The views in this area are spectacular as we have the Catalina Mountains just about in our back yards. Close by are several golf courses, horseback riding opportunities, and hiking. Tucson is known for the Saguaro National Monument, Sonoran Desert Museum, Kit Peak Observatory, De Grazia Art Studio, Air and Space Museum, Mt. Lemmon Ski Resort, Tucson Art Museum, University Of Arizona, 1800's Fort Lowell, Center for Creative Photography, Old Tucson Film Studios, and much more. We live in the Sonoran Desert. People who visit our state marvel at the natural and cultural diversity. You must visit and also fall in love with our corner of the world.

Something about ourselves

Gavin and I are retired teachers. We both taught elementary school for over 20 years. Gavin is a playwright and spends much time at his desk creating plays. We both usher for several local theatres and enjoy the full slate of 'happenings' that take place in and around Tucson. We have been fortunate enough to live in and travel throughout the United Kingdom where Gavin taught as a Fulbright teacher. Other adventures have found us in Egypt, Spain, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Italy and so forth. We have one daughter who is in politics and that also gives us an opportunity to visit her in various areas. Gavin and I have already had one successful home exchange for six weeks and look forward to another.
