Description of our house
The house is situated on the edge of a small village in Val (valley) Colla around 9 kms. from Lugano.
It is at 700 metres above sea level with fabulous views across to mountains and down to Lake Lugano and which can be enjoyed from either of two large terraces.
The house built on 4 levels is spacious and full of light and air, with one floor a living room with open plan kitchen and opening on to a 95 sq.m terrace. The second floor has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms and above it another bedroom opening on to a 54 sq m.terrace.
The basement floor contains double garage, cantina and utility room. All the necessary facilites of modern living are included to a high Swiss standard.
The shelter of the Alps to the north creates a favourable mediterranean type climate. Grapes grow locally and our terrace hosts a lemon tree for 6 months of the year ! If playing the piano is of interest to you, there are two in the house.

Our neighborhoodThe local village, Roveredo, is a small hamlet with an attractive and tranquil collection of mostly historic houses but with few local facilities. There are many attractive walks in the hills behind the house.
3 kilometres down the hill is Tesserete, a small town with supermarkets and other shops, swimming and sports centre, doctor, dentist, bars, restaurants etc.
15 - 20 minutes away by car is the beautiful lakeside city of Lugano with a wide range of attractions.
Also being just 15 minutes from the north south motorway, you can easily reach Italy or other parts of Switzerland. Within an hour or two's drive you can be in Milan or Lucerne or many other attractive destinations in the north Italian lake district or the Swiss Alps.
There is a local bus service but you need a car to really enjoy what's on offer.
These include, walking, climbing, skiing, golf and you can even reach the seaside on the Ligurian coast for a day out.

Something about ourselvesI am a retired IT executive originally from UK and my wife, Tulay, is originally from Turkey and one daughter lives with her family in nearby Chiasso, the other in Germany.
We are open minded about where we go for an exchange. Golf, tennis, walking are attractions in addition to the usual sight seeing, beach life and generally enjoying the local scene, as we are both quite sociable animals.
