Description of our house
We welcome you to visit our cosy home which is situated in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood only 300 m from lake Vättern, Sweden's 2nd and Europe's 5th largest lake. It is a mere 5 min. drive to the city centre and a 5 min. drive to the largest shopping centre of the region. We love to remodel and redecorate our home, and in the pictures you can see what it looks like right now. Our house has 3 floors with a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms and one even has a jacuzzi and a sauna. Our house is decorated in light colours inspired by Scandinavian light and the French "shabby chic" style. Our home is characterized by a warm and cosy atmosphere and here you can enjoy many relaxing evenings in candle light. Here you also find all modern amenities and loads of toys for both boys and girls, including tonnes of Lego, PlayStation 2 and computer games. The 2nd floor is the children's floor with 3 bedrooms and a large play room. If you are traveling without children, you can easily just ignore the 2nd floor and live on the 1st (ground) floor. The 1st (ground) floor contains living room, master bedroom, office, bathroom and kitchen. We also have a really nice and well kept garden with a sun deck and a glassed-in patio featuring a gas grill and heaters to prolong the summer season.

Our neighborhoodWe live in the city of Jönköping which, together with its twin town, Huskvarna, has approx. 120,000 inhabitants. Jönköping is a university city and it is situated in a valley between two mountains. There are many lakes in the region (suitable for swimming) and even in downtown Jönköping water plays an important role: here 3 lakes meet. The lake Vättern, and its sandy beach, is only a few minutes walk from our home. Jönköping is situated in the part of Sweden called Småland and this part of Sweden is known for its red, wooden houses and as the place where the famous author of children's books Astrid Lindgren grew up. The theme park "Astrid Lindgren's World" is only a 1 hour drive from our house. During your visit you can also go to the island of Visingsö in the lake Vättern, visit the famous candy factories in the town of Gränna, visit the "Kingdom of Crystal" with all of its glass works and much, much more. If you want to see more of Scandinavia, Stockholm and Copenhagen (Denmark) is only a 3 hour drive. Oslo (Norway) is a 5 hour drive. Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg is only 1 hour drive from our home.

Something about ourselvesWe are Anders (49) and Anne Marie (38), a married couple with 3 lovely children who in the summer of 2009 will be 10 (girl), 9 (boy), and 8 (boy). Anders is a computer technician and Anne Marie runs a translation business. Anders is Swedish and Anne Marie is Danish and we met when we were leaders to an international summer camp in Brazil organized by the international organisation for peace and understanding, C.I.S.V. (Children's International Summer Villages). Our family absolutely loves to travel! We love to visit new places and we wish to raise our children as tolerant and open minded individuals and we think that experiencing new cultures is a perfect way to do this. We are open for all offers and we promise to treat your home with respect. We are quite flexible, but are however more or less bound by the Swedish school holidays.
