Welcome to our cosy home!
We love to redecorate and in the pictures you can see what our home looks like right now. Our house has 3 floors with a total of 5 bedrooms (2 double and 3 single bedrooms) and 2 modern bathrooms of which one even has a Jacuzzi and Swedish sauna.
Our house is decorated in light colours inspired by Scandinavian light and the French/Danish country style. Here you can enjoy the warm and cosy atmosphere and enjoy many relaxing days on the sun deck or in the glassed-in patio and in the evening you can enjoy a glass of wine in the candle light - we absolutely love candles and you'll find them all around the house.
In our home you also find all modern amenities, tonnes of Lego, PlayStation 2 and computer games. The 2nd floor is the children's floor with 3 bedrooms (2 of which are newly renovated spring 2010) and a large play room. If you are traveling without children, you can easily just ignore the 2nd floor.
The 1st (ground) floor contains living room, office, bathroom and a brand new combined kitchen/dining room.
The basement contains a large master bedroom, guestroom and large bathroom with sauna and jacuzzi. Here you'll also find a sun bed as well as a motorized treadmill and rowing machine if you want to keep in shape during your holiday :-) We also have a small garden with a sun deck and a glassed-in patio featuring a gas grill and heaters to prolong the summer season. We live in the city of Jönköping which, together with its twin town, Huskvarna, has approx. 120,000 inhabitants. Jönköping is a university city and it is situated in a valley between two mountains. There are many lakes in the region (suitable for swimming) and even in downtown Jönköping water plays an important role: here 3 lakes meet. The lake Vättern (Sweden's 2nd and Europe's 5th largest lake), and its sandy beach, is only a few minutes walk from our home. The city centre and the region's largest shopping center is a mere 5 min. drive away. Our area is also wellknown for its many golf courses! Jönköping is situated in the part of Sweden called Småland and this part of Sweden is known for its red, wooden houses and as the place where the famous author of children's books Astrid Lindgren grew up. The theme park "Astrid Lindgren's World" is only a 1 hour drive from our house. During your visit you can also go to the island of Visingsö in the lake Vättern, visit the famous candy factories in the town of Gränna, visit the "Kingdom of Crystal" with all of its glass works and much, much more. If you want to see more of Scandinavia, Stockholm and Copenhagen (Denmark) are only a 3 hour drive. Oslo (Norway) is a 5 hour drive. We are Anders (in his early fifties), IT-consultant, and Anne Marie (in her early forties), freelance translator. We have three lovely children who in the summer of 2012 will be 13 (girl), 12 (boy), and 11 (boy). In the summer of 2012 we may travel with or without our children depending on the dates.
We are very experienced travellers and we have done 6 very successful home exchanges so far.
We are interested in most things, but we like the sun, swimming, exploring local foods, visiting quaint villages and picturesque landscapes. For a summer exchange we would prefer a place which has some outdoor space (garden or large balcony) as well as place to swim (sea, lake, pool (private or public)).
We promise to treat your home with respect. We are tidy and well-organized and we hope you'll appreciate our home as much as we do.
