It is a large, two storey, south facing rural villa, 13 years old, beautifully furnished, with sea and valley views, nestling in the peaceful Monte Alegro (Happy Valley).
The villa is surrounded by lovely walks amongst well established orange, mandarine, apple, aguacate (avocado),lemon and mango groves.
The upper storey of about 150 square meters is available for exchange. During this exchange the lower storey, which is equal to the upper one, is all the time closed, so 100% privacy is guaranteed.
The villa has all modern requirements, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and fly screens. The illuminated pool is heated all year round by solar energy. There is a poolside shower and a barbecue.
The upper storey has 2 nice covered terraces, situated east and west, overlooking the valley and te sea, each of them equipped with table and comfortable chairs. There is both satellite TV (hundreds of tv and radio channels) as antenna TV (50 spanish channels and high speed internet. The living room has a new big flatscreen TV, a lounge with 2 big leather sofas ( 3 + 2 people) and a chimney- stove, a dining area, a full equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, a bathroom and 2 double bedrooms for 4 persons in total. A washing machine is installed at the lower level.
There is a covered terrace space with table and chairs for 6 people, next to the swimming pool.
Set amongst various fruit groves, the villa is built on a plot of 3.500 square meters.
Our home is a unique property and we want to exchange for properties that are similar in terms of overall value, location and amenities. We will consider apartments and smaller homes for exchange only if they are unique and special properties, of similar standard, in prime locations. Our property is situated in a rural area of beautiful Andalucía, at 400m altitude, 8 km from the Mediterranean Sea, 50 km east of downtown Malaga and 70km from new (2010) Malaga airport. This is the best side of the Costa del Sol, far away from noisy Torremolinos, etc. at the west.
Torrox - Town, Competa and Nerja (see photograph) are at 10 to 20 minutes drive. The picturesque white village of Cómpeta, famous for its wine and honey, lies 15 minutes up the valley. There are a variety of tapas bars and restaurants around the attractive village square, supermarkets, bakeries, fishmonger, banks and craft shops. Torrox - Pueblo has an indoor market, selling locally grown produce and fresh fish. Torrox - Costa has a nice seaside esplanada with numerous restaurants to suit every taste, 3 big supermarkets, shops and several banks. The town of Nerja is famous for its 6 beaches, "discovered" by Spanish people thanks to the TV serie "Verano Azul", its beautiful Balcon de Europa and, last but not least, the famous Caves of Maro, the third most visited cultural site of Spain. The 18 hole Baviera golf course, designed by José María Canizares, is at 20 minutes drive. A set of clubs and a carry bag are available for our visitors.The green fees are very reasonable compared with those charged by the courses to the west of Malaga. The Añoreta golf club is at half an hour drive from the villa. In Motril, at 40km, is another golf course.
Sevilla, Granada (La Alhambra - see photograph), the Sierra Nevada),Cordoba (La Mezquita), Gibraltar and surfers' paradise Costa de la Luz are at a few hours drive via new motorways.
Spain's brand new infrastructure here in the south, thanks to EU-cofunding, makes travelling easy. Traffic jams are unknown in our region.
The climate of Torrox has officially been declared as the best of Europe (almost 3.000 hours of sunshine per year during 320 days and 325 mm of rain).

We are Yaima and Ludo, experienced international travellers and spanish residents since 2004.
I (Ludo) am a belgian master in civil engineering and a master of science in industrial and systems management (University of Leuven, Belgium). I am now working as an independent consultant after a long career both in the private as in the public sector, travelling during several months per year all over the world. I have been living and working for a few years in Latin America, with diplomatic passport, as representative of the Belgian Minister of Foreign Trade and Economy.
My wife Yaima is a spanish foreign trade specialist. We did wonderful swaps in 2010 (Sweden), 2011 (Switzerland - car included) and 2012 (Ireland - car included). In august of this year we will do an Exchange with the south of France.
Usually it's just the two of us traveling, but occasionally another couple joins us on vacation.
We want to rent this upper storey for min.2 weeks and max 1 month between 1.10.2013 and 1.2.2014 as we want to travel to a country where home exchange is not possible. We will adapt to the possibilities of interested persons. We are Yaima and Ludo, experienced international travellers and spanish residents since 2004.
