Description of our house

Two minutes drive to the Mediterranean Sea, our home is an eight year old villa standing in its own large mature garden, with a private swimming pool. It has three double bedrooms and three bathrooms [two en-suite], a large open plan lounge/dining room with adjoining fully-fitted kitchen. Large terraces front and back with exterior dining and lounge areas take advantage of the wonderful temperate climate. The private pool measures 11 by 4.5 metres. First floor sun terraces to the front and rear look onto mountains and sea. The house is fully furnished with a regular gardener and pool cleaner. A five seat manual estate car is available. Cable TV with 24 English channels and hi-speed internet broadband connection. The villa is a short drive to all amenities, shops, restuarants, bars and beach.

Javea, where we live, is a coastal town made up of three distinct areas: the historic old town with its medieval church, narrow streets and typical Spanish architecture - the small working fishing port where fresh fish can be bought daily - and the modern beach area with plentiful bars and excellent varied restuarants to suit all budgets. The large sandy beach is cleaned everyday and protected by life-guards. To either side of the beach are rocky areas ideal for keen snorkellers. For the more adventurous there are several good scuba-diving schools. The town is set among wooded hills dotted with private villas, with a backdrop of impressive mountains. Walkers will enjoy the picturesque walks among the forests and along headlands The population of Javea is half-Spanish with the other half comprising British, Dutch, German, French and Swiss ex-patriots. The surrounding inland area of wooded mountains, with its Spanish villages and ancient castles, is full of history and fabulous locations for day or extended trips. Something about ourselves

Harry is a semi-retired Television writer and novelist, and his wife Chris is a retired prison governor who nows spends much of her time raising money for childrens' charities. Sport plays a big part in our lives. We both play tennis, like walking [but not mountain scrambling!] and Chris runs the local netball club. We have exchanged several times with great results. This is the only way to travel!
