Fuerteventura is still a hidden secret to most travellers. It certainly is hot and sunny with a constant cooling breeze which makes it perfect for geting out and about. It has the touch of the Sahara about it as we are only 90 miles from the of coast of Africa. Lanzarote can also be reached by a short ferry ride from Corralejo. The island does offer something for everyone - all types of water sports, hiking along remote barrancos and through extinct volcanic mountains, playing golf at all levels or just simply discovering the Canarian way of life.
Villaverde is well placed for the best beaches on the island with El Cotillo lagoons to the west and Corralejo sand dunes to the north - both accessible by local bus. The village has a 2 small supermarkets and a great local bakery within a few minutes walk from our villa and a small number of cafe/restaurants including the rural hotel Mahon.

We both took early retirement a few years ago - Adam from IT and Jan from Social Care management. We have made Fuerte our permanent home and love the simple life style it allows us. Adam works a few days a week from home and will need to have fast broadband on house exchange. We have not done a house exchange before but we are sure our home, splendid garden and it's setting will provide a wonderful experience and prove the best way to relax, unwind and take it easy!
