Home is a bright, modern (2006) luxury flat, two streets from the beach and 15 min walk into the centre of Barcelona. It is located in Barcelona's newest neighbourhood "Villa Olimpica", built to house the olimpic federation and athletes during the 1992 olimpic games.
It is pretty much a dream holiday home both because of the quality of the flat itself and the location of it.
The flat has just about everything you could want including Satellite TV with free to view UK channels (so you can watch English TV). All rooms have ample natural light, parquet floors, central heating / air con etc. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave etc.
The apartment is located in a complex with a swimming pool and kids play area, and benches to sit and read. I have attached some photos to give you an idea. The neighbourhood (Villa Olimpica) is ideal for strolling and sport (a roller bladders and cyclists dream!). The area was developed specifically for the 1992 Olympics (hence the name) and therefore is walking distance to town, 2 minutes walk to the beach, etc. Many expats live here as it brings together all that foreigners idealise about Barcelona: beach, sun, space, strolling everywhere, safety, leisure, walking distance to all sites.
You are 7 minutes walk from Ciutadella Park (city's biggest park) and 15 minutes walk to the city centre (funky Born district), Gothic quarter etc (please Google it).
Villa Olimpica is a quiet residential area with beaches (of course!) cafes and restaurants, a gym, library, multiple supermarkets etc. It is 2 minutes walk from Barcelona's biggest original version cinema complex (important if you do not speak Spanish!). It is ultra safe (but Barcelona is a safe city anyway).
Fantastically well communicated with public transport. Two metro lines (Bogatell L4 and Marina L1), many bus routes and tram. You can take a bus directly to the Sagrada Familia church (just 6 bus stops away). Here's a link to the city of Barcelona's official website...to get you excited http://www.bcn.cat
Plus France is only 2 hours drive...and there is soooo much to do in summer in Barcelona...I don't know where to begin telling you! Over the summer of 2011 , I did 4 (yes four!) extremely successful home exchanges in USA & Canada so this would be my 5th home exchange. (happy to provide references).
I'd like to be in London for part of the 2012 Olympics, but am happy to travel post Olympics too. I also would consider visiting, London, Berlin, Balearic Islands, (not France, sorry)
I freelance teaching English in companies and have my own language exchange company. I am very trustworthy and respectful of other people's property and am of course looking for someone who shares the same principles and I love my house! (Once you come, you'll understand...it's truly nice!)
I have travelled extensively in my life and have lived in many different countries. Other than English (I am Australian) I speak fluent Spanish and French.
