Description of our house
Casa Mallandos is a delightful light and airy 3 bedroom villa, nestling in pinewoods, a quiet, tranquil setting which begs leisurely evening walks and just a 5 minute drive to the Arenal beach with its bars and restaurants. The well stocked garden is set out on various levels with different sitting areas. The covered patio overlooks a fountain and is a lovely place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine and relax. The lounge has three sets of patio doors which open out onto the terrace and overlooks the 8m x 4m private pool (which can be secured for children). The kitchen is fully equipped and has a table and chairs for casual eating. There is a large outside kitchen with built in BBQ, a sink with hot and cold water, fridge, area lighting and a sitting area under a pergola with table and chairs where you can have wonderful evenings cooking a ‘braai’. The villa has ceiling fans in all rooms, mosquito window blinds in the bedrooms and security shutters on all windows and doors. It also has full central heating, double glazing and a fireplace with fan assisted wood burner. Our 4 x 4 Hyundai Santafe is available for car swap.

Our neighborhoodThe small Medieval Town of Javea is a labyrinth of narrow streets, gothic fortified church dating back to the 15th century, small plazas with many bars and restaurants to visit. There is a colourful market every Thursday morning. It offers a variety of landscape, sandy coastlines, rugged mountain areas and with its mild year-round climate is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining beauty and modern facilities with the charm of an ancient fishing village, a haven of peace and serenity .The port area has a lovely promenade, various fish restaurants and a harbour where fishing boats dock with their daily catch. The coast of Javea is 25km long with beaches and creeks that stand out because of their natural beauty, their transparent waters and the Mediterranean forest which surrounds them. Javea has a great variety of beaches to choose from.,small coves, pebble or rock beaches, ideal for water sports and diving, the coast also hides a series of caves which are only accessible by boat. The Arenal beach has fine sand and shallow water, its many services include: vigilance services, play areas, natural and artificial shade, boat hire, restaurants, bars, cafes and clubs,a variety of food, drink and entertainment and ample parking facilities. Each year Javea's beaches are awarded the blue flag of the European Union. Alicante and Valencia airports are both just over an hour away by car and most European cities can be reached at quite low cost by budget airlines.

Something about ourselvesWe are Malcolm and Maddy, Malcolm is a retired Managing Director of a British Publishing Company and Maddy is a retired therapist. We moved to Spain from the UK 6 years ago and love it.
We have two adult sons. We are fortunate that our younger son is an airline pilot for British Airways and have enjoyed quite a lot of concessionary travelling.
We are hoping to do our first home exchange to Cape Town during April/May 09. We feel it is a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see ours. Of course we guarantee to look after your home as if it was our own.
