Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our home is our sanctuary in idyllic surroundings. We live in a security estate with a guard(24hrs). We have a spacious open plan lounge and dining area which opens onto a wooden deck with a solar heated swimming pool and an indigenous garden. Upstairs, we have four bedrooms. The main bedroom has a view across the valley to the mountains and sea, and has a bathroom and shower en suite. The other two bedrooms both have double beds with views of the mountains and trees. The fourth bedroom has a bunk bed. We have an additional bathroom with shower upstairs, and a separate WC downstairs, as well as a separate TV room and laundry area. Our home is newly built with a luxurious fresh feel including lots of glass and steel but decorated with an eclectic combination of antique and contemporary furnishings that make it both homely and stylish. It is north facing so receives the sun most of the day.

Our neighbourhood is beautiful and quiet, yet we are close to the beach, mountains and amenities. Hout Bay was traditionally a fishing village but has grown to become a cosmopolitan community with international residents as well as locals from diverse cultural backgrounds. In fact, Hout Bay embodies a microcosm of multicultural South African society. We are 25mins drive to the centre of Cape Town. Within a short driving distance, there are the finest beaches including Llandudno, Camps Bay and Clifton, Table Mountain, Robben Island, the scenic Chapman's Peak drive, world famous wine farms (Klein and Groot Constantia), local townships (Imizamo Yethu) and fantastic restaurants (La Coulombe, Overture). Mountain biking, surfing, swimming, hiking, diving are all on our doorstep. There is local transport available but ideally a car is recommended for ease of getting to all the beautiful places such as Boulders to see the penguins or Cape Point Nature Reserve or inland to a game farm or a wine farm. Something about ourselves

My husband Andrew and I, are both in our forties and we have two teenage children, Joshua (15) and Sarah (13). We love riding our bikes or walking together in the mountains or picnicking on the beach during the summer. Andrew consults as a main-frame computer programmer and I am a psychotherapist and yoga teacher. We love travelling, exploring new cultures and have a passion for food. We have never done a home exchange before, but are keen to use this as an opportunity to explore the world from a different perspective. Ideally we'd like to swop for a ski chalet in Switzerland, Italy, France during the winter ski season. However we are open to offers. ![]()
