Our home is a classic 'black and white' 2 storey British colonial house set in a lovely garden with mature trees and palms. There is a 14 ft trampoline with safety netting, a swing set, ping-pong table and a swimming pool surrounded by teak decking.
We have 3 bedrooms- 2 upstairs (one with a double bed and one with twin beds), and a bedroom downstairs with a single bed. We have a comfy living room and our dining area is outside under the palm-thatched roof.
We have a full-time Philippino maid called Wendy, who lives in her own little house in the garden. She will look after you very well during your stay, show you around and babysit if required. We live in a green, leafy crescent in a quiet residential area called Wessex. We are ideally located as we have bars, restaurants and supermarkets within a short walk and we are a few yards from a bus stop. In October 2011 the new MRT (subway) station opened about an 8 minute walk away which means you have fast and cheap access to the whole Singapore network.
There are Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurants within 5 minutes walk. A little further is a large supermarket with adjoining restaurants, ATMs, hairdressers, newsagents, Starbucks etc
We are a 30 minute taxi from the airport and 15 minutes from the bustling downtown Singapore city centre.
Singapore is a truly amazing place to live in and visit, constantly changing and offering new experiences against the safe peaceful, prosperous and clean background of a proudly multicultural society. Some must-dos for visitors are the Zoo and Night Safari, Little India,and Chinatown.
New developments have seen the astonishing Marina Bay Sands ( http://www.marinabaysands.com Universal Studios theme park on the Island of Sentosa ( http://www.rwsentosa.com and the Singapore Flyer ( http://www.singaporeflyer.com to name but a few.
And don't forget the superb shopping in the world-famous Orchard Road ( http://www.orchardroad.org
Many families who have stayed here have also taken the opportunity to travel to nearby destinations like Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Vietnam and Cambodia. We are 2 British teachers. Steve is Head of Faculty of Technology for Learning at a top international school in Singapore, Linde teaches French and Learning Support in the same school and we have 2 boys of 11 and 15 who are into music and sport and have travelled the world with us.
We have been doing house exchanges for 15 years and pride ourselves on being completely trustworthy in all our dealings and utterly respectful of your home and belongings.
Our parents and siblings live in UK so we do return there each summer, but also like to bring our boys to France, Spain, Italy etc so they can appreciate the language and culture. We are 2 British teachers.
