Description of our house
[
![]() ]
We have lived in this house since November 2010. It is a timber built Eco House, modern and comfortable and full of a life's collections from our travels. The house is south facing and is full of light, that's why we love it so much. The technology in the house is not complicated and basically looks after itself. There are 2 main bedrooms upstairs and a bed settee in the TV room / library for extra guests. There is a sliding door which leads into the garden at the side of the house with a sitting area and BBQ. The garden was a field when we arrived and we have started to plant it with lots of colour. There is still lots of grass for children to play on, with a secure gate that can be closed. There is little traffic on the road outside the gate.

We are ideally located as a touring base, the Scottish Borders has the most beautiful scenery, and we are right on the coastal edge of it. There are excellent golf courses, championship mountain bike courses, and some very fine fishing on the River Tweed, also deep sea fishing from Eyemouth.. There is a dive centre at St Abbs. There is a small shop in the village with a small cafe, the nearest town is Eyemouth, 3 miles away and the much larger historic town of Berwick upon Tweed, 8 miles away, with places to eat, drink and shop.It also has a good theatre and film club. Edinburgh is within easy driving distance, about 50 minutes into the centre of the city, with all its attractions and beauty. There are also excellent train links to the cities of Edinburgh, Newcastle and Durham in just over 1 hour from Berwick upon Tweed. There are some lovely walks from the house and beautiful cliff and coastal paths. Something about ourselves

We are, Maureen a retired nurse, and Lorne, a Civil Engineer who is also retired. We have two grown up children who live in England, our daughter is now married and has a wee boy,our son is just married, but despite the miles between us we are a very close family. Lorne and I have always loved to travel and have visited many countries. Exchanging homes seems an exciting way to see other countries and cultures in a more intimate way, rather than being another "tourist". We have had 5 house exchanges ![]()
