Description of our house
We love our home! It's a spacious, bright, top floor traditional apartment with many original features and wooden floorboards throughout. It's centrally heated.
A 3 bedroom apartment, we both work from home so use it as one double bedroom, an office with a bed settee (spare room) and a music room.
(If you were a larger party or two groups who wanted to be travel together, Erin's sister has a similar lovely apartment 2 minutes walk away, in sight of ours so together, we could exchange with up to 8 people.)
We enjoy food and cooking and our informal dining kitchen is the heart of our home. The window opens fully into the garden so we often pull up a chair and sit in the sun. We like to entertain and there's plenty space for chatting round the table and a music system with plug-in for ipod. We have good cooking utensils and a breadmaker... though we make our own artisan bread and will leave you some!
We have a 2-seater and a 3-seater settee in the lounge and two easy chairs in the window area. There's a music system and lots of CDs and a DVD player. There are plenty books to browse and board games in the cupboard.
The double bedroom has plenty of wardrobe space and we'll clear a portion for visitors' use. There's a cross-trainer to keep you fit!
A spacious spare room with futon double bed. We use this as an office so there's a desk and a meeting table and chairs. We have lots of art material - paints and paper - and happy for you to use this as the play room!
A lovely quiet room overlooking the garden, with desk and easy chair. (Visitors can use the keyboard and drum kit but not the guitars.) Feel free to move furniture if you want to use this room as a sitting room.
Bath with shower, WC and basin.
We share a well-kept garden with our lovely neighbours - we are all great friends and afford each other company and privacy in equal measure. In the garden shed we have 2 small barbecues and 4 sun-loungers for your use. There's a bench in the garden for a quiet seat.
We have 2 bikes and a small car to get around (though there is a train station 5 mins away and good buses so car not essential).

Ours is a top floor flat in a lovely traditional apartment block with original stained glass windows in Glasgow's popular South Side. We are 5 minutes by train from the city centre and the train station (Pollokshields West) is 3 minutes walk from the apartment. The airport is 15 minutes drive.
We are in the heart of this diverse neighbourhood with newsagent and shop across the road and several cafes, greengrocer, butcher and gift shops minutes walk away. Our favourite eateries are Cookie (Italian) and The Bungo contemporary bistro-bar 5 minutes walk on Nithsdale Road.
We walk round local Maxwell Park daily to check the progress of the pond's wildlife (swans, ducks and a heron) - it's a 20-30 minute round walk through the leafy suburb of original merchant houses.
For a longer walk, continue on to Pollok Country Park with Highland cattle, Pollok House and Burrell Collection - magnificent display of a private collector's art and artefacts.
5 minutes drive is Bellahouston Park and sports centre with a great swimming pool.
The Tramway arts and performance centre is 5-10 minutes walk and The Citizens theatre 10 minutes away.
Glasgow is a funky city with a young population. It brands itself "Scotland with style" - it's more authentically Scottish than Edinburgh in many ways. It's one of the UK's top shopping centres. You may know it was City of Culture in 1990 and has continued to grow its cultural reputation since then. It has a thriving cultural scene for music, film, performance: The Arches has been called "Europe's best venue" and has a great club programme as well as performance and music. For film, visit the GFT - part of a European network of art filmhouses. For drama, there's the nearby Citizens and Tron Theatres. For music there's a lively pub music scene from small scale Captain's Rest, 13th Note, Mono and Stereo and Oran Mor, to the large scale touring circuit venues like the SECC, O2, Carling Academy, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Fruitmarket, City Hall. There are stunning architectural features and visitors attractions from Kelvingrove in the West End to the Science Centre, IMAX cinema and new Transport Museum on the River Clyde.
Glasgow is a great base for touring Scotland. Edinburgh and Stirling are 45 minutes away. To the West and North there's easy access to the stunning Scottish Highlands and Islands. To the South, there are boats to Ireland.
If you're interested in visiting the internationally acclaimed Edinburgh Festival in August, there are regular trains and a base in Glasgow avoids the overpriced and scarce accommodation problems that city has at that time.
Glasgow at Christmas and New Year is a great place to experience a traditional Scottish Hogmanay. There's a European market, ferris wheel and ice rink in the city centre and a programme of live events for New Year.
Something about ourselves
I am a communications consultant and run 2 businesses. I live with my partner Erin: she is a musician and directs 2 women's samba bands. I have 2 grown up children - my daughter is just about to move from China to Spain and my son lives locally.
We LOVE Scotland and choose to holiday around Scotland every year as well as travel abroad. We like to travel on our own and with family and friends, so are always open to offers for 1, 2, 4 and 5 people!
We've enjoyed HomeForExchange trips to France, Italy, Amsterdam and Spain and love this authentic experience.
