Our home is a modern detached house built in 2011. It is very eco friendly with good insulation, big patio windows along its southern face, solar panels and underfloor heating. There is a large kitchen, utility room, dining room, atrium, sitting room and cloakroom downstairs. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, bathroom and shower room, a large study and an open plan library space. Outside there is a double garage with a playroom above and a sunny terraced garden with a large patio.
There are lots of books and music and DVD's and broadband Wifi computer access. We are pet and smoke free. We may be able to make a car available if required.
Our home is in a semi rural position about 9 miles from Stirling and 3 miles from Alloa which is a good shopping centre with supermarkets and independent shops. The house has excellent views of the nearby Ochil Hills. There is a network of local footpaths and cycle tracks and for those who like horses a riding school nearby.
Stirling an important town in Scottish history with its imposing castle as well as monuments to William Wallace(think Mel Gibson in Braveheart!) and Robert the Bruce who won the battle of Bannockburn a few miles from where we live. There is easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands by road, rail or bus. The nearest railway station is Alloa. The Ochil Hills and the Trossachs provide lots of interesting opportunities for walking and cycling. Then there are the golf courses and antiques centres. Day trips offer many options, St Andrews for Golf, the East Neuk of Fife for old fishing villages, Perth for interesting shopping, Callander, Crieff, Comrie and Aberfoyle for wonderful scenery.
We are Roger and Kate two retired academics. Roger worked in criminal justice management. He has worked for the Council of Europe giving advice to new member states from Eastern Europe on the treatment of people in detention. Kate worked as a manager in a college in Edinburgh. She writes training resources in management and human resources. We enjoy caring for our garden and travelling and house exchanging in Europe and Australia.
We can offer a non simultaneous exchange if preferred.
