Description of our house
We would like to exchange for a week in October - preferably Norway, or weekends in GB anytime. We are open to offers for Easter 2009 and would like a two week stay near mountains for summer 2009.
Our home is modern but has the character of an old house and is set in an older part of town rather than a modern estate. It is awash with light from the large windows. The house has centralheating and our cosy living room also has an open fire. The kitchen is very well equipped as we love to cook. There is also a large dining room on the ground floor.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom. There is also a second bathroom.
The enclosed garden is very sunny - when the sun shines!, and completely private. It is a great spot for sun bathing. In the summer we eat outdoors on the patio, which is equipped with table, chairs and a barbeque.
Please note - we don't have a TV connection but we have a small TV for DVD's and Play Station. We also have a computer with broadband internet, as well as lots of books, games, puzzles and toys for all ages.

Our neighborhoodEllon is a small town built on the banks of the river Ythan, a well known salmon river. If you take a walk along the riverbank you might spot the otters that live there.
Brackenlea sits in a quiet street in the centre of Ellon within a few minutes walking of restaurants, shops, swimming pool, play park, golf course and sports complex. Our neighbours are very friendly and will help you find your way around.
From Ellon it is only a short 15 minute drive into Aberdeen where you will find cinemas, museums, art gallery, restaurants, and shopping centres. Aberdeen also has transport links with the rest of Scotland if you want to travel further afield. It may be possible to exchange cars. We drive a five year old Fiat Punto.
This part of Scotland has miles of beautiful coastline ranging from pristine sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs all teaming with wildlife. This area is also renowned for its castles. Why not come and explore the history of Scotland through the wonderfully restored castles of the north east?
The Scottish highlands are a 45 minute drive and you can visit the Queen's holiday castle at Braemar.
Ellon is perfectly located for all kinds of activities for all ages. If your interests lie in clinging to cliffs with your fingernails, cycling through quiet forest tracks, wrestling a salmon fom the river, or quietly reading a book in the sunny garden, why not give us a call?

Something about ourselvesIshbel and I (Ian) are both 48 and we are teachers at Peterhead Academy, working with children with behavioural problems. We have six children between us from 26 - 16 but it is unlikely that any of the children, except perhaps the youngest, will be traveling with us.
I have exchanged homes several times and always found it a great way to meet new friends and explore new places. We have now completed five exchanges together and looking forward to the next. We are both interested in outdoor activities and enjoy walking, climbing, cycling, fishing and midnight bonfires on the beach. If you are interested in an exchange, we will leave equipment for fishing and climbing for you, maps and details of where its best to go. We have two cats who live in the garage. They are very friendly but never come into the house. We would like if you could feed them, but our neighbours are happy to do this if you are not around.
