Description of our house

Our home is on the second floor in an old renovated apartment building from 1895 with a total of 10 apartments overlooking a small park. There are three small shops on the ground floor, including a haidresser and a olive oil shop (!). The large backyard includes a lawn with very nice, safe playing ground for children. Three bedrooms are facing the backyard, thus being very quiet at night. One of them has a balcony with early evening sun. The kitchen has all you need including a spacios dinner table and the living room has a fire place and cable TV including CNN/National Geographic/Travel/Eurosport channels, both rooms facing the park. We have Nintendo Wii, as well as a laptop with highspeed internet. The third room is also facing the park and has a small balcony with lovely morning sun, this room can also be converted into a bedroom with a double bed. Our neighbours are great people, all in their thirties or forties, half of them with small/young children. Note: There is no elevator.. (we have now moved the kitchen to the diningroom and will be updating our pictures)

The apartment is located in Grunerlokka neighbourhood, in the city center of Oslo. Grunerlokka has lots of small cafees and shops, downtown is within walking distance and all the sights in Oslo are within easy reach by tram or bus. There are also a number of parks and recreational areas in the immediate proximity of the apartment, as well as the Aker river with its waterfalls. Grunerlokka is called "Oslo`s Greenwich Village"... Oslo is a rather small capitol with 600 000 inhabitants. Among its most famous sights are the Edvard Munch museum, the Viking Ship museum and the Vigeland Sculpture Park. In February 2011 the World Championship is held at the brand new Holmenkollen Ski jump - the worlds most modern ski jump ! A boat trip on the Oslo Fjord is also recommended. Please also see http://www.visitoslo.no for more information. By car or train you can reach for example Lillehammer or Bergen town in a few hours. We are Vedis 41 and Bjorn 44 years old, and we have two sons 4 and 7 and a girl 2 years old. Bjorn works as a project manager in a property development company, and Vedis is a senior adviser at Ministry of the Environment. We are both experienced travellers and we did our first exchange to Spain/Granada last December, we loved it and our guest was very happy too. We also look forward to a trip to Palermo this spring, after a very nice family visited our apartment last summer. Hope to hear from you, we will take good care of your home. ![]()
