The area is great for children and adults.Plenty of summer and winter activities. The forest is right behind our house and 2 shopping malls and other large stores not far away. Grocery store with all you need 2-4 minutes walk from our home. In the surrounding area, you will find cities, high mountains and beaches within 1 hours reach by car or bus/train. The closest town is Drammen (60.000 inh.), 12 mins by car or you can take the bus. In central Drammen here is a beautiful river, city beach and a nice town square which is very lively in summer. Oslo is 45 min drive. Our capital has museums, shops, new opera house, fortress and anything you may wish for. Plenty of skiing possibilities close to home in winter. Bergen and Stavanger are a daytrip away by train or car. Our last exchangers went there to see the magnificent fjords. There are two fjords in our area, Drammensfjord and Oslofjord. They are really beautiful too. You may also travel to Sweden very easily. A 2 hrs drive or a wonderful boat trip from Sandefjord to Strømstad in Sweden, crossing the Oslofjord with its beautiful little islands.

We are a family of 2 - Me, the mother - Anne 55, and my daughter Michelle 16. Sometimes we travel 4, bringing friends. We've had 2 wonderful exchanges in France 2009, one in Spain summer 2010, and the last one in Switzerland 2011. This is a great way to travel and thanks to our hosts, we have discovered many hidden places which we would never have been able to find on our own. We enjoy strolling streets and take life as it comes. We are no frequent museum visitors, but enjoy small cafes and watching people passing by. We love travelling and exploring new corners of different countries.

We have a cat called Snow White. She is outside all day and just comes home in the evening to eat and sleep. If she can stay home with you, it's great, but we can send her away if you are allergic or don't like animals.
