Description of our house

Our home sits in its own private grounds in a valley at the foot of Slieve Gullion mountain. In this 'area of outstanding natural beauty' we have unspoilt views of mountains on all sides. We have a large mature garden (1 acre front and back) with patio. We have four large bedrooms, a study with internet access, a sitting room with open fire, and a large open plan kitchen, dining room and living room with open fire. There are a number of bikes available. Our holiday home in Donegal is a tradional two bedroom cottage that has been recently and lovingly restored. (see http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk Dungloe for further photos. Search home number 88899). It sits on an acre at the end of a peninsula and has stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. You can sit and watch waves breaking off the rocks or watch the most amazing sunsets from the large living room windows or the two patios. There is also a beautiful white sandy beach behind us. The house has one small double bedroom, one small bedroom that sleeps three and a double sofa bed in the living room. There is an open fire in the kitchen and a wood/turf burning stove in the large living room (with high ceiling) that looks out to the sea (plenty of turf included).

Our main home is in historical County Armagh. We live on the border between Southern and Northern Ireland, one hour from two major cities, Belfast and Dublin. We are 10km from Newry City and 6km from Dundalk where there are numerous shops, resturants, bars, leisure and social activities (bowling, ice-skating, etc). There are two villages Forkhill and Mullaghbawn 3km away where you will find a number of local shops, and bars where there are weekly tradional Irish music sessions. This area is renouned for its mountains and forests as well as fishing lakes and rivers; a paradise for walking, hillwalking, mountaineering, fishing, golf (3km), horseriding (0.4km)and tradional Irish music lovers. We are a stones throw from the Mourne Mountains, Cooley mountains and the Medieval town of Carlingford. Our family has an equestarian centre next door (0.4km) so there are lots of horses around the house. Our home in Donegal is 5kms outside the small town of Dungloe. (Donegal airport 13km). From this typical donegal rugged, rural setting you have unspoilt views of the most dramatic coastal and mountain sceanery. The surrounding beaches are exceptional and unspoilt. There are amazing drives and walks from and around the house. Something about ourselves

Hi, My name is Phyllis. I am a Clinical Psychologist. I have three boys Kevin 18, Aaron 19 & Ryan 20. (Children now living away from home so would not be travelling with me) We have been traveing around Ireland and Europe since the boys were small, mostly camping for a month in the summer and sking for a week every winter. Now that the boys are getting older, and don't need the entertainment/companions that you typically find on large campsites, we would like to do something different and feel that home exchanges really suits us. Two of our boys are active and enjoy their quad bike and two scramblers. One is an avid and acomplished horse rider and one is quiet and enjoys reading and the computer. They are lively and good fun but are careful and respectful of other people's things. We promise we would really look after and respect your home. We spend a lot of time in our holiday home in Donegal and we love it there, it really is like stepping back to a different, quieter time with the most hospitable and generous people. We both enjoy painting and reading. We have a cat who lives outside. We have just completed two very successful exchanges; one in Paris for Christmas and the new year 09 and the second was spent in France this past summer. The above is now a bit out of date as the boys now are living mostly away from home. This means that i would probably travel alone. Open to all offers. I am keen on an exchange in England, Europe, or America. ![]()
