Description of our house

We bought our present home 2 years ago and have just finished a total renovation. We chose this house because it is at the end of a quiet street with no contiguous neighbors and has commanding views of Tasman Bay and the Western Ranges. We spend most of our time in our kitchen/dining/family room which leads out onto a large patio which is well shaded by native Kanuka trees. In addition we have a large formal lounge room with two separate seating areas. There are four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed (that's a New Zealand King - smaller than a North American version) with ensuite. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and ensuite. The other two bedrooms are given over to our separate offices and are therefore not available as accommodation.

Nelson may well be the single best place to live in the world. Situated in a beautiful location next to the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks with Tasman Bay, the Western Ranges and the Richmond Ranges as a backdrop. Nelson records more sunshine hours than anywhere else in New Zealand but receives enough rain to keep everything lush. Nelson enjoys a vibrant arts culture encompassing theatre, music, visual and artisan experiences. Nelson is home to "World of Wearable Arts", now an international success, and a visit to the WOW museum is a great experience. Nelson puts on at least four music festivals each year. The Theatre Royal and the Nelson School of Music are wonderful venues, as well as the cathedral. Nelson is now recognized as a leading wine producing region. Nelson has a busy working port and is the largest deep sea fishing port in New Zealand. One would have to be brain-dead to fail to find something to do in Nelson and its surroundings on a daily basis. ![]() Something about ourselves

Frances is a retired school teacher who is the volunteer coordinator of the Nelson Save the Children Gift Shop. Paul is a semi retired consultant pediatrician who continues to see patients in Nelson, Wellington and Greymouth (on the West Coast of the South Island). We were both born and raised in England. We met and married in Hong Kong and since then have lived in Northern Ireland, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We have two adult sons, one living in Melbourne and one in Montreal. We are both fastidiously tidy and intolerant of mess. We welcome like-minded guests and undertake to take as good care of your house as we do of our own. ![]()
