We live in a lovely 1920's era family home that has been updated with new kitchen, bathrooms (including master ensuite), and decor while keeping the wonderful character features it was built with. The kitchen has an open plan family room included with a seperate dining and living rooms also downstairs. All the bedrooms are upstairs: The main bedroom has a king bed, 2 others have a double and a queen bed, and the fourth bedroom has 2 single beds. We have 3 cockatiels(Australian parrots) outside on a covered patio(Chicky, Lateeny, and Dixie). We also have a king-size 4 year old Swiss or White Shepherd(Koda) that we take away for friends to take care of unless you like really large dogs!

We are on the southern suburban fringe of Christchurch with walking tracks going up the port hills and into the valleys through the farmland and reserves. Our home is at the foot of the Cashmere Hills with a bus stop about 50 meters away and just across the street from a small river and parks. It's only a ten minute drive to our beaches, Lyttelton Harbour, or great shopping. Christchurch is a great place to explore Canterbury from and within driving range of good portion of the South Island. We are an hour and a quarter from Akaroa, an hour 45 minutes to Hanmer Springs (thermal resort and reserve where we have a holiday house that may be available), 1 hour and 30 minutes to Arthur's Pass or to skiing in the winter. While the CBD was affected by the quakes, there is still quite alot to do in and around Christchurch (Antarctic Centre, suburban art galleries, beach walks, hill walks, drives on the Peninsula, wonderful coffee shops and restaurants, etc). Something about ourselves

Bill and Tekla moved to Christchurch 23 years ago from the USA and have two children, Anton 17 and Kazi 15. We are into tramping, tennis, painting, and pets. Tekla has an IT background before joining Bill in Real Estate. We own a successful real estate business that is located in the southern suburbs. The first exchange we had was in Brisbane in 2003 and we since have done ones in Europe, Mexico, and various parts of the US - close to 20 home exchanges over the past 8 years. With our children still in school, exchanges need to be during the NZ school holidays. For the past few years we've spent every other Christmas in the States and had some wonderful exchanges as part of these trips and are planning to do so again for Christmas 2012-Jan 2013. ![]()
