We built this house in 2002 for ourselves and our two children. There is a second family room downstairs. Then the children left home. We have three double bedrooms and a sofabed for occasional night guests. The house is clean-lined and spacious. It faces west across the lake but you can get a glimpse of the sea across the road from the upstairs study. The garden is, theoretically, maintenance free. BBQs work well. Weeding is optional! We have an alarm system and a security gate - but it's a civilised part of the city.

![]() Our neighborhood
We have direct access to the lake across a park where there is a jetty to launch kayaks, canoes etc. We have two kayaks. We are walking distance to safe swimming and sailing beaches in Milford and Takapuna. There are two shopping centres within a kilometre where there is a cinema complex, two theatres, many restaurants and cafes. There’s also an indoor swimming pool, a 10-pin bowling alley, parks and playing fields close by. The centre of Auckland city is a 15 minute drive (out of rush hour). There’s an adequate bus service, too. You can drive to lots of interesting places by the sea, in the bush and in the city from here. Something about ourselves
Doug and Diane are in their late fifties/early sixties. Doug is a company director in the computer industry and Diane works for the University of Otago. Our son and our daughter are both married and hope to travel with us from time to time. We enjoy going to places to see how the rest of the world lives. But we have family in Nottingham to visit and affection for some places from when we lived in the UK. Bucks, Wiltshire, Bristol, Derbyshire, Yorkshire... We look after our own house well, and would do the same for yours. We are flexible about opportunities to exchange. ![]()
