Description of our house

Our well decorated house build in the late 40s is situated in the South of The Hague about 60 km from Amsterdam. It is a typical Dutch family house with a little garden in front of the house and a large garden at the back where a large trampoline for children has been build. We have decorated our house with the memories of the times we have lived in Asia and Latin America. Downstairs is situated the living room with large sofa and a dining table for 6-8 people. The TV has a subscription including movie-channels, all international TV-stations and theme-channels. The open modern kitchen is next to the garden and has all appliances. On the first floor the two large children's bedrooms are based, and one of the rooms has a sofa bed for 2 people and a baby cot, the other has a single bed. On the same floor we have two bathrooms. One equipped with a shower and a sink also houses the washing facilities. The other bathroom contains a bathtub, sink and toilet. Finally on the second floor is the "master" bedroom with a double bed, a study, extra TV, Playstation and wardrobe. Once a week our help will pass by for three hours to clean the house.

We live 2 minutes away from a small forest with a big pond and a large playground. We have 3 adult bikes (with child seats)and two children's bikes that can be used. Within 8 minutes you can reach the dunes and the beach of Kijkduin. At Kijkduin you will find a family orientated beach with restaurants, shops and playground. The shopping mall including a supermarket is within walking distance (5 minutes) and public transport is around the corner of the street. Within 20 minutes you can reach the city center of The Hague and within 50 minutes the old centre of Amsterdam. Also Rotterdam with it's modern architecture and skyline is withing 45 minutes from our place. Scheveningen beach with it's boulevard, pier, sea-side restaurants and shopping facilities can be done by bike or public transport for a wonderful day outside. We are a family of four. My husband works as a controller for a ministry and I work as a communications adviser at an NGO. Our two little girls are from 2005 and 2009. We love to travel as well in Europe as in Asia and Latin America. We have had a wonderful home exchange with a couple from Washington DC and we love the concept. As we have spend a number of years in Latin America, we speak also Spanish and Spain is one of our favorite countries to visit. Therefor in the summer of 2012, we plan to visit Barcelona and surroundings. For the rest of the year we are interested in whatever comes up.
