Welcome to our family home!
A very comfortable house is what we have to offer. Four bedrooms of which one is being used as a 'library/office/storage' room. Well-kept bathroom with double sink. Kitchen with all facilities.
When walking through the front door you enter our hall after which the L-shaped living room lies. A table for six, a couch, a PS2 and a Wii are all there. To your right is an open kitchen. It is fully equiped. Behind the house is a garden (80m2) with a small shack (6m2) and a trampoline of almost 4m. From the hall you can go upstairs to the large master bedroom (30m2; including a treadmill and cross-trainer for your workout), Shanon's room (former master bedroom, with a loft bed over a very broad bunk bed of 1.20m) and the bathroom. Another stairs takes you to the top level with Kevin's room (with extra sofa bed; and you can see your first windmill from the small balcony!) and the 'library'. This part of the house is airconditioned, because of the flat roof
The kid's rooms are decorated with wall paintings of their choice( a sun-set for Shanon and planets for Kevin). Lonely Planet: "Amsterdam is #2 city to visit in 2013, worldwide"...

The house is situated in a peaceful neighbourhood. Close to a shopping mall, a huge park with a lake (including watersports facilities) with adjacent 18 holes golf course and all normal facilities you can expect from a modern-world town: restaurants, bowling alley, English spoken cinema, theatre, hospital, railroad station (a 10 minute walk), a bird park with small zoo, and so on. Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) is just 25 minutes away. An authentic series of windmills is at walking distance (35 minute walk, 10 minute drive). You will probably want to visit the more touristy, but also more extensive parks of Kinderdijk or Zaanse Schans to see more of those. That would be a 45 minute drive either way.
We live a 30 minute drive from the four big cities of NL: Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam. The area surrounding our home is dotted with small cities/villages built around authentic canals: Gouda (well-known for its cheese), Delft (well-known for its blue china called Delf Blue). It is also just 40 minutes to several beach resorts, catering for every available taste.
One hour away to the South is De Efteling, famous in continental north western Europe as the more authentic version of Disney Land. Within the same travelling distance (Eastbound) you can find the countries largest natural park: Park de Hoge Veluwe with all its wildlife.
Within 1.5 hours of driving you reach the borders of Germany and Belgium and within 6 or 7 hours you reach Paris or Berlin. Although flying there or to London is faster and cheaper (depending on number of visitors); Amsterdam makes a great hub for exploring European capital cities! We are a family of four: Shanon (14) and Kevin (17), both very well-mannered, and the two of us; Patricia and Ludovic (both early 40's).
Shanon loves singing, horse riding, playing guitar and meeting with her girlfriends, Kevin loves his acting classes and playing guitar and enjoys cooking. Patricia works in Alphen aan den Rijn as an HRM professional and likes sailing, Ludovic drives to Amsterdam every day for his job as a media consultant and loves to spend his spare time with photography and riding a motorbike.
The four of us love to travel so just send us an e-mail, we are open for every proposal!
We have two cats who really like human company. We can arrange for them to be taken care of elsewhere for the duration of your stay.
Besides the car(s), use of Ludovic's motorbike (BMW R1200GSA) is also optional for the exchange. 4 adult bicycles are available.
We have a second home (a houseboat) in Vreeland so we can also exchange non-simultaneously.
So far we have had 3 exchanges: summer holiday in the South of France, skiing holiday on the French/Swiss border and summer holiday in Lithuania. Three great experiences! Hopefully you are able to provide us with new experiences, as we try to provide one for you.
