Sunny, renovated house just outside the city center of Utrecht. In a very quiet neighbourhood (Wittevrouwen) near the biggest and most famous parc of the city (Griftpark).
Downstairs: big living room, kitchen, bathroom and shower. First floor: bedroom with double bed, office room with possibility for bed/crib. Second floor: bedroom with single bed and enough space for 2 extra matresses (available) on the floor. All rooms have wooden floors and a sink with hot and cold water. We love bright colors, and a mixture of modern and vintage interior items.
The garden is small but nice, with flowers, a fountain, a bench and a picnick table. You will enjoy your morning coffee here, while in the afternoon you can have a drink on the bench at the front. The neighbourhood was build around 1900, and is completely renovated during the last decades. Very quiet and child-friendly. Sunny, renovated house just outside the city center of Utrecht. Utrecht is situated in the middle of Holland, so it is the perfect place to stay if you want to get an impression of the country. All railway lines meet here; all corners of Holland are easy accessable from here within 2 hours. Because of the situation and the good public transport system in Holland, no car is needed. By car however, you can leave the city within 5 minutes.
Our house is located in the very popular, yet quiet, neighbourhood Wittevrouwen. The modern Griftpark is a nice place for a workout or to hang out and have a picknick in summer, at 3 minutes walk. Lots of playgrounds.
The medieval city centre is at 15 min walking distance, with the Dom Tower, canals, museums, and many markets and shops. Lots of restaurants are located both in the neighbourhood and in the city centre. A supermarket is around the corner.
Closer than 10 km are: forests, lakes, green pastures, good walking and biking opportunities. Whithin half an hour to an hour by train or car are the interesting cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague. The bus takes 5 minutes from our neighbourhood to the central station. We are a small family of three. Anke works in mental health care and studies shiatsu massage. Patrick owns a company in sustainable development and is a zen teacher. Our daughter Linde (15) attends secondary school, so for now we are limited to school holiday periodes. We are interested in ecology and in buddhism, and love arts, cooking and nature.
We like travelling and learning about other cultures in a low budget way. Have been living in Belgium, Norway and in the United States. We are used to exchange our house and love it because of the unique locations, the friendly people we meet and the sustainability of the concept. We like the south of Europe a lot; also we want to show our dauhgter around Europe's famous big cities and cultures. Architecture, art, shopping as well as nature (walking, biking) we enjoy.
