After a big renovation which took us more than a year, we finally moved in our 2 floor apartment this month (October). It was worth the effort! From kitchen to wooden floor, from bathroom to ceilings, everything is fresh and new. But most importantly, we are so enjoying the view on the Vondelpark straight from the kitchen table and livingroom ... From the garden, you can enter the parc immediatly!
We will update our pictures as soon as we've completed decorating. Same goes for the garden, this is a project we will start in a few months. Have to set priorities because we are both working full time so everything has to be done in the weekends... This is why we've added some pictures showing the garden of the neighbours, to give you an impression of what is will look like. But the view at the parc is ours! We are so not lying if we say that this is one of the best spots to spend your time in Amsterdam. Being the capital city of the Netherlands Amsterdam offers you the best musea, pubs, clubs, restaurants and a fairytail environment in the city centre. From our location, this is all at walking distance. And if it rains (yep, that sometimes happens in the Netherlands...) there is public transport right at the corner.
Our house offers you a very relaxed and quiet spot at the Vondelparkside. Cars are prohibited. The Vondelpark is the most famous park. Check out the website if you want to know why: http://www.amsterdam.info
But if you leave the house through the front door and walk to the Overtoom street, immediatly you enter the very busy environment of a big city. Pubs, restaurants and little shops offer you a wide variety of prices, quality and styles. This is a very lively neighbourhood, 24/7 sharp! We are a married couple with two sons aged 6 and 8. We are both experienced travellers and want to continue traveling, but now with the children. We have swapped houses in the past and really loved the extra's you have if you do not have to stay in a hotel. Especially for the children it is nice if it feels like 'coming home' after a busy day out.
We both work full time; Walter as a director in the ict-industry, Helma as a director of an animal welfare organisation.
We are both very relaxed, not the demanding type. Our house is big for Amsterdam standards, but we are very happy in a small apartment too! So don't hesitate to contact us if you live in a small apartment.
We really love spending time in cities. Doesn't matter where, but for short holidays we prefer Europe, so we do not have to fly. In summertime we would really love to go to Asia or Africa. But hey, South America or the US are great too!
We made 4 success full swaps in the past, but because of the renovation it has been a while. Looking forward to get this started again! We are a married couple with two sons aged 6 and 8.
