My apartment is about 100m2, with a sunny and peaceful roof garden and is situated right in the heart of the historical center of Amsterdam, on one of the major canals. The apartment consists of the top two floors of a 400 year old canal house, fully equipped with every modern convenience and appliance. The first floor comprises of master bedroom, bathroom and large, sunny sitting/dining area overlooking canal and fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there is a further bedroom, study and roof garden.
My guests wrote in my guestbook:
"... a dream place ..." (my last - Israëlian - exchange partner)
"As experienced home exchanges we can truly appreciate the beauty and grace of this warm, cosy + inviting home. The only 'criticism' is that [the] description + photos cannot capture the uniqueness of your flat."
"I hope you enjoyed Rome as we enjoyed Amsterdam and your beautiful home. We had a great time and felt really at home. "
" Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit in Deiner sehr erhohlsame Wohnung. " [Thanks a lot for the wonderful time in your very relaxing apartment.]
"... gracht its fantastic and very comfortable, it is very good arrive here after an intense day."
"I hope you enjoyed Rome as we enjoyed Amsterdam and your beautiful home. We had a great time and felt really at home. "
A German guest who swaps yearly with some one in Amsterdam wrote: "Our time in your lovely house was wonderful! We hate to leave ... Let us stay in touch for further swaps ..."
… GRACHT FOR EVER ! “
[It was the warm atmosphere of the living room, where we could make it comfortable with a cup coffee in the morning, when the sun shined through the windows in the living room … then these marvelous moments in the afternoon or in the evening, when we sat on soft cushions in the window and looked at the tourists boats, sailing in the canal, or simply dreaming away in the lighting of the bridges or of the street lanterns…. Dear Paul, we would have loved to remain in your apartment, we loved to live in it and we didn't like to go… It was a beautiful experience. ...GRACHT FOR EVER !

The apartment is at one of the 3 main canals. In my opion the most beautiful and a very quiet canal.
Dam-square is 3 minutes walking. The main railway station and public transport are all within walking distance, as are the galleries and the major museums (like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Goghmuseum, the Gemeentelijk museum, the Hermitage near the Amstel, the Amsterdam Historical Museum, Marine museum, etc.). Shops, markets, great restaurants and lively bars are just around the corner. Theatres (like Carre, Concertgebouw, Stopera) are nearby as well. The neighbourhood is super. A German guest described the area as 'traumhaft'(as a dream). It is the beste place to stay in Amsterdam [and to live ;-] The apartment is at one of the 3 main canals. I live in Amsterdam for 15 years and I fell in love on the city. I live alone and I am 'raadsheer', member of the Court of Appeal, in Amsterdam. I did about 14 swaps so far (situation July 2011). For my guests I collected a lot of information about the city; this is at your disposal (I am sure you will not miss anything important). I should be more than happy to provide you with more information and answer any questions you may have about Amsterdam and my apartment.
I am (also) interested in an exchange with someone from NYC, Malaga, Sevilla, Madrid, Lisboa, London and Berlin.
I live alone; may be 1 or 2 friends will join me during my holiday. I live in Amsterdam for 15 years and I fell in love on the city.
