Description of our house

I offer a sunny and quiet apartment nearby the most important museums in Amsterdam. It's not large, but it's airy thanks to the french doors on both sides and not crammed. There's a living room with a large sofa, on which one person (and eventually even two) can comfortably sleep; a cable tv and dvd-player; a desk for pc/internet, a dinner tabel, and a wooden floor with a rug. In the only bedroom is a kingsize bed, in the bathroom you'll find a shower and a bath, there is a seperate toilet and the kitchen is well-equipped. And off course I empty a wardrobe for your clothes etc when you come. Because of the small size of my big city apartment it's best suited for a single or a couple (with one child).

Our neighborhood

The apartment is perfectly situated between the most lively neighbourhood ("de Pijp") and the most posh part of Amsterdam, and within walking distance of the Concertgebouw, Van Goghmuseum, Rijksmuseum and the antiqueshops in the Spiegelstraat. A large park, the Vondelpark, is not far away, nor the Leidseplein, with a lot of outdoor cafés, bars, cinemas and Paradiso (for popconcerts). When you walk across the bridge at the other side of my apartment, you'll find the biggest market of Amsterdam (The "Albert Cuyp", with clothes, fruit, vegetabels, fish, cheese etc.) There're also all kinds of restaurants nearby. At the Museumplein (8 minutes walking) is a big supermarket; a smaller one is at 2 minutes walking. And when you want to go to other parts of the city or to the trainstation: five streetcar lines bring you wherever you want to go.

Something about ourselves

I'm a 60 year old woman and historian and a translator of English and German books about history. I've swapped houses only ones (for 3 months with a couple from New York). Now would like to visit New York again in de same way.
