![]() Our neighborhood
The neighbourhood is friendly and safe. With a lot of restaurants, shops and terraces (near the waterfront of the Schinkel) and close to the Vondelpark. Enjoy the Vondelpark for a drink or go there for a run. Tram 2 is around the corner (5 mnts walk) and brings you to the center of Amsterdam with its musea, concerthall and theatres. Bus 15 brings you to trainstation Amsterdam Zuid to catch the train to Schiphol (7 mnts). Amsterdam and its surroundings are best explored by bicycle (there are two bikes for you in front of the house, one race-bike and one female bike). The Nieuwe Meer (for a swim) and the Amsterdamse Bos are nearby, take the route along the Schinkel. A supermarket is nearby (2 mnts walk). To go to the beach, it will take you 45 mnts by train (every hour two trains go to Zandvoort). Nice food to take-away around the corner (Tante Til is my favourite). Parking your car in Amsterdam is quite expensive, the best way to come is without a car. Something about ourselves
I (female) live in Amsterdam since 1984 and still find myself a tourist in my own city, because everyday I really enjoy living here. I don't have a car and travel only by bike (and train). Living with two sons in the age of 11 and 17. I work for the Dutch version of the National Trust: Vereniging Natuurmonumenten. Preserving nature in a small country like Holland. I am working on a project to reduce the CO2 output, save energy, waste, paper and fuel among the personel. I love being in the outdoors, playing fieldhockey, cricket, tennis and ice skating. Our first exchange in 2009 was a big success, we went to the Massif Central in France. ![]() ![]()
