Nice and cosy 3rd floor apartment with plenty of light (canal view at the front and backyard view at the back), very comfortable, with all amenities. My neighbours are generally quiet, friendly and trustworthy. As in (almost) every (older) building in Amsterdam, the staircase is quite steep, but there is a good banister. The apartment has 2 bedrooms: a small one, at the front of the building (which I also use as study/guest room), and a bigger one at the back with a brand new top-quality bed (180x210). The main bedroom is very quiet. My apartment also has a spacious living/dining room with 3 windows and a (2 pers.) sofa bed, a kitchen with a small table (for 2), a balcony with 2 chairs and a small table, and a bathroom with a bath tub.

I live in the historical centre of Amsterdam, only about 20 min. (on foot) from the Central Station, Anne Frank's House, Dam Square, etc. The area (surrounded by a canal) is called Bickerseiland and is a sort of 'village' inside Amsterdam's centre: very quiet, yet only a few minutes from the more lively parts of the centre, with many shops, cafés, bakeries, supermarkets, museums, cinemas, theatres, etc. My neighbourhood has a mixture of old buildings (like mine, which was built around 1900, but was renovated in 1990) and modern architecture. I am a 48-year old French freelance translator, and I live in Amsterdam since 1991. I am a quiet person who likes reading, going to the movies, listening to music (and playing some too), cooking, travelling (both in and outside Europe). I practise 'meditative sports' like yoga and chi-kung, and I love walking (both in urban areas and nature).
