The apartment occupies the 2nd floor of my house (1913), my wife living separately on the ground floor (we share the heating). The apartment consists of a large living room with kitchen for the full depth of the house with a study annex. Besides one bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. Facilities: Telephone, PC, internet connection, TV, video, DVD.

Our neighborhood
My house is situated on the fridge of the 17th-century centre of Amsterdam, in the so-called Museum Quarter, a quiet residential area developed at the beginning of the 20th cent. The house is situated close to the principal museums, The Rijksmuseum, the Municipal Museum temporary closed) and the Van Gogh Museum, and the Concert Hall, and has excellent public transport services to the centre. The much frequented municipal park (Vondelpark)lies at 5 minutes walk. Something about ourselves
I am professor emeritus of Classical Archaeology at Amsterdam Free University. Apart from having studied Roman coin finds in the Netherlands, I have done research in Greece and particularly in Central and Southern Italy, my main subjects of interest being Roman architecture and urbanization. Besides living part of the year in Bali, Indonesia, I have taken up travelling again in Europe.  = marks the location of this home
