Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our home is a comfortable and spacious house in the beautiful and peaceful city of Amsterdam. The house has 4 floors and a rooftop with a small terrace (about 7 sqm) that views over the rooftops of the neighbours and the tops of the trees of the adjacent Vondelpark. The ground floor is a kitchen, fully equipped. It has a long wooden dining table. The kitchen is connected through a small atrium to the 1st floor, where you can relax (read, watch big flat screen television, listen to music, play wii etc). Climbing the stairs to the bedrooms or to the rooftop will keep you in shape, but you might prefer taking the small elevator. Our house is situated in a short and quiet street in the city center, dead-ending on the spacious city park (48 hectares), which is known for its great atmosphere and for its numerous, sometimes strange, but always friendly visitors.

![]() ![]() Our neighborhood
[
![]() ]
Our neighbourhood borders the city center and is among the most popular residential area in town. It is next to the main city park and walking distance from famous museums (Van Gogh, Rembrandt) and the concert hall. You can also walk to the Leidseplein with lots of terraces, street musicians and nightlife. Or to the PC Hooftstraat, the most famous and most expensive shopping street. For more affordable shopping you can visit the various markets (flower market; art markets) and find specialized boutiques in the narrow streets between the canals. Amsterdam is close to the sea (30 km) and extremely well connected with other cities in The Netherlands as well as in the neighbouring countries. Something about ourselves

We are Katja (1961, dietician), Bart (1959, development economist), Eddo (1992) and Gaudi (1994). We love to share the good things of life, also with people outside our own circle. That is why we joined home-for-exchange in 2008. In three years time we had 6 most interesting and wholehearted exchanges. In 2008 we found our first match in Malta and it was really a success. Next, during the Christmas break, we had a very enjoyable exchange with a family from Paris. Summer 2009 we went to Bordeaux and, again, both families loved it. In 2010 we spent the eastern in London and the summer holidays in Toscany, Italy. This summer we went to Bali. We are looking forward to our next swap. Let us know if it could be you! Regards from Amsterdam. ![]()
