We have a beautiful rustic three floor house with a big basement and garden. The house was build in 1917 and still has many authentic details. It's very light and airy and is installed with all the comforts of home. A microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer are all available.
The refurnished kitchen is very spacious and is linked to the dining and living area. The dining area is also equipped with a piano. In the living room we have a large tv with digital television and DVD-player. On the main floor is also a separate toilet.
On the first floor there is a double and single (possible double) bedroom, a small study and a bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and a double sink. The second floor has another double-bed bedroom and a seperate toilet. There is also a study/office on the second floor, but this one is closed. Both floors have room for storing clothes when you come for a holiday.
The basement is equipped with a three or four person infra-red sauna that can also be used as Swedish sauna. On this floor there is also a shower and a play area for the children.
The garden offers room for outside dining and sunbathing. Behind the garden is a safety public play area for children, a little park where the parents can enjoy the shadow. During the year there are many festivals like "Bok-Bier dag" during the traditional harvest season, the chocolate festival and the yearly carnaval. There are also a few museums like "Het stedelijk museum" (on the historical background of the city) and "Het Henriette Polak museum" (with modern and contemporary art).
Zutphen is situated in a beautiful part of the Netherlands with lots of woods and rivers. Hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities are great to do here.
Just to the West of Zutphen you will find the largest recreational park of the Netherlands called “De Hoge Veluwe” ( http://www.hogeveluwe.nl In this park you will find a variety of plants and animals – living in its original habitat.
The city is perfectly situated for trips to Amsterdam (100 km) and other parts of the Netherlands(Rotterdam, The Hague), but also gives easy access to Germany and Belgium. We, Margot and Cees, are a couple in our late fifties and are starting to slow down and enjoy the good life. Both our daughters have left the house to go studying in other parts of the country / world. Sometimes they want to join us during holidays. We love travelling, culture, good food, wine and outdoor activities.
We hope to see new parts of the world. We are up for holiday exchange (in- and outside the holiday season) but are also happy to consider offers for long weekend or mid-week trips.
