Our Apartment is situated on the 5th floor. It has a nice welcoming feel to it and is comfortable, clean, and spacious. The Reef Apartment complex is gated, has 24 hour security, a gymnasium, sauna, swimming pool, squash courts, table tennis and badminton. We have wireless broadband,LCD TV,DVD player, full size fridge, automatic washing machine, oven, microwave, and a water filter system in the kitchen.
Also our home is fully air conditioned, has two bathrooms with a toilet/shower in each bathroom, three bedrooms, a large kitchen, dining table and lounge suite that seats 6 persons. The balcony overlooks the ocean with spectacular views. Daily we observe fishermen casting and bringing in their nets, we occasionally see a group of sea otters feeding, and large monitor lizards swimming and sunning themselves on the near by rocks, every evening there are also sea eagles hunting for fish. The sunsets are absolutely glorious and the daily sea breezes are most welcome in the tropics.
We are a mere 5 mins by car or bus, to the famous night markets, hawker food court, excellent restaurants and hotels at Batu Ferringhi. There is also public transport just a short stroll down the road, that takes you to Shopping Centres and into the renowned Georgetown.

The apartment complex is composed of approximately 200 units with a wide ethnic grouping. With Malay, European, Indian, Japanese and Chinese owners and tenants. We really do love it here..... Penang has an incredible variety of food due to the multi-cultured people. You can have clothes made by tailors within 1-2 days, barter at the night markets for handbag imitations and trinkets to take home. Visit the many Temples, Museums, Jungle trek - or simply chill out with a book on the balcony, listening to the sound of the ocean waves roll in. The population is about 2 million on the Isle of Penang, so unless you are used to traffic, driving is not recommended. The taxis' and the bus services are inexpensive and available just down the road from the apartments. If you like tropical weather, spicy Asian food, swimming, shopping and experiencing different cultures then Penang is the place for you! Penang is the Gateway to all of Asia and the Pearl of the Orient!. You can fly to Singapore, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Sarawak, Sabah, Bangkok and Phuket, just to name a few countries and cities, for very reasonable airfares. At present the American
dollar is about 3 to 1, which makes a holiday here a lot more affordable than in Europe.
We have also had family and friends come to have dental work done and plastic surgery. Our last friend saved enough money on her teeth to include the cost of her trip/holiday and 15 kg of shopping!

Hello, this is Bob and Gay. I was born and raised in Australia. My husband (Bob) was born and raised in Hawaii. He moved to Australia approximately 11 years ago upon retiring. We met and married and moved to Malaysia (Penang, an Island off Malaysia) in the Make Malaysia My Second Home programme in 2009. We reside in this beautiful place 6 months of the year, usually from April/May - November/December. If it wasn't for our family, we probably would live here permanently as we simply love the lifestyle. There are many places we would like to visit, using Penang as our base. So far we have been to the Islands of Langkawi and Phuket. We have driven to Thailand and stayed at Krabi, Hat Yai and flown to India. Next planned destinations are Sabah, Sarawak and Macau. As Bob says... 'Life is meant to live, go for the gusto!'
We would like to go back to Hawaii to catch up with family and friends in 2012. Bob has family in Oahu and the Big Island and also close friends in Maui.
