Beautiful, charming new palazzo in Otranto, south of Puglia. The summer nights are normally cool and dry, full of pleasant scents. The silence of the place is quite impressive even in the busiest August nights. The large courtyard is adorned with a beautiful design pool. Here, all the house guests gather at sunset for drinks or dinner. Part of the charm of this house is the construction that reflects the style of an Old Masseria. The milan based architect reproduced the same design of Masserias using all local stone and material. It has a loft style living room with a fire place and a big table that can sit 14 people plus a table outside of the same size. Hanging on the walls large art works belonging to the private collection of the owners and many design objects. There are 2 main bedrooms on the same floor with 2 bathrooms. In the basement, usually very cool during the hot summer evenings, 3 extra double bedrooms with a bathroom. It can then sleep 10 people. The house is placed right at the center of the village of Giurdignano, in the Otranto area. The position of the house gives all guests the possibility to meet the local people, always very warm with foreigners. Also, although this part of Italy is very quiet, it is good to know that the location of the house offers its guests a very secure environment.

Giurdignano is located 50 minutes from the airport of Brindisi and 30 minutes from the city of Lecce, famous for its baroque architecture. A car is necessary to move around the area as public transportation is limited. Car rental is found in Brindisi at the airport and in other locations. Taxis and private drivers are available in Otranto. A bicycle rental service is available including a tour guide. Salento is the extreme point of Italy where the 2 seas meet and it has a fantastic nature with olive trees and cliffs and beautiful beaches. The house is located in a village with 1700 people and is placed at the center of a vast olive tree area, it is 10 minutes by car from the beaches and the port and town of Otranto. It is famous for the presence of megalitic monuments dolmen or menhir, of the archeological site called 'Le Centoporte", of several criptas, of which the most famous the church-cripta of San Salvatore, of two hipogean tombs of the eneolitic period (II millennium B.C.). The house is situated in the center of town, next to the lovely piazza with a church and other historic palaces and walking distance from coffee bars and restaurants. Something about ourselves

We are Alessandro and Priscilla, a married couple with a eleven year old daughter Ludovica and a three year old Clemente. We are both professionals (lawyer and travel writer) and enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We would like to help people discover Puglia and especially the heel of Italy where the 2 seas meet. We have a beach house there and would like to share it with you.
