San Bartolomeo is 5 kms away from Imperia, between Diano Marina (very good for shopping!) and the medioeval village of Cervo. The goulfe is very charming with its sea, the flowers, pines and palms both near the seaside then on the hills behind. At few kms you can also visit Alassio or San Remo (Italian music festival and casino), while Genoa, with its famous aquarium, is at 1 hour drive from there, such as Montecarlo and Cote d'Azur on the opposite side. You can also visit Dolceacqua or Triora (the village of the witches!!!), Toirano caves and the water park Le Caravelle (lots of fun for children and parents!). Unuseful to say that in the summer your favourite activities could be sleeping/reading or playing on the beach and swimming or snorkeling in blue water, but we do suggest to visit the hills behind with their history and the Mediterranean tastes and smells. Our home is close to the beach (100 mts) and, even if you can find everything you need for your daily supply (foodstore, take-away, newspaper, travel agency and so on...) in few meters, it is in a quite area. Right in front of the house there is the bus stop which takes you along the "Riviera" or to the train station. Most of the beaches are free and equipped with showers, but there are also some for fee, as you prefer. Near the beach there is a wonderful and relaxing promenade closed to car traffic, perfect for children and family, where you can find cafes, fine restaurants, shops or souvenirs

We are an Italian family of 4 persons: Laura (42), Raimondo (46), Andrea (14) and Daniele (7). We have already made 5 swaps (Norway, Sweden, Ireland and Netherlands) and it has been a very good experience for all of us.
