Skerries is a picturesque seaside fishing town with plenty of local attractions and places to visit. The town is approximately 30km to the north of Dublin and on the East coast rail line, providing an excellent base to visit Dublin city (35 mins by train) and all the towns and countryside of the East coast of Ireland.

Skerries has many restaurants, cafes & pubs, supermarkets, delicatessens and boutique shops and there is a farmers market every Saturday at ‘Skerries Mills’. There are 2 beaches in the town; a stony beach where you can fish in the rock pools and collect sea-glass; and a long sandy beach which looks out on the Skerries islands and Rock-a-bill lighthouse in the distance. Skerries also boasts the only West facing harbour on the East coast of Ireland where you can watch the sunset over the fishing boats and yachts while relaxing at one of the restaurants and bars in the harbour. Beyond the harbour is ‘Red Island’ with walks overlooking the sea and a children’s playground. There is also a large playground for all ages located at the fabulous Ardgillan Castle which is 5 minutes by car from our house. At Ardgillan you can also take a tour of the castle, picnic in the gardens and walk through the woodlands with dramatic views over the Irish Sea.
Skerries was also a recent runner-up in the Irish Times best place to live in Ireland competition.

We live at the end of a quiet tree lined street approximately 10 minutes walk from the village centre & beaches. We are also conveniently located only 5 minutes walk to the train station which has a regular service into Dublin city centre. The towns of Howth, Malahide, Drogheda & Carlingford and the city of Belfast are also accessible by train from Skerries.

While we are only a few minutes walk from the village centre we are immediately adjacent to the Skerries Mills parks where you can enjoy a stroll past the windmills, tour the heritage centre, visit the café and craft shop, and don’t forget to feed the ducks & swans on the way home!
