Our bright and airy house has a large open plan kitchen/dining area with patio doors opening to deck & garden. The house is centrally heated with the added bonus of a wood burning stove in the open plan area which creates a wonderful cosy atmosphere in which to cook, eat or just relax and listen to our extensive music collection or read a book! The kitchen is well equipped with all modern conveniences – microwave oven, d.washer, hob, washing machine etc. The dining room can seat up to eight.
The front TV room has two large sofas, flat screen cable TV and DVD player. WI FI internet access throughout also.
The house has beautiful, mature front & back gardens - gardening is one of my pastimes. Our back garden also has a small pond and fountain where our three goldfish live! The deck was recently installed and is the perfect place to relax. 4 bedrooms - one of which is ensuite. This includes 2 x double rooms and 2 x single rooms - so the house could sleep up to 6 in total. There is also a separate large bathroom. Lucan is a suburb of Dublin City and is perfectly located to explore the greater Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow areas. Lucan is located close to the intersection of several major highways allowing easy access to the rest of Ireland should you wish to explore further afield. Lucan is located on the River Liffey-the many parks around the area are all around the river and the local community take full advantage of fishing, walking, canoeing and of course feeding the local ducks!
The village itself has a wide range of small convenience shops, cafés, restaurants & pubs (one with a thatched roof) and two large supermarket/grocery stores are only a 5 minute drive. There are 2 large shopping malls within 5 miles. Access to Dublin City Centre (25 minute drive) is via the several bus routes that run through Lucan Village (again the Village is only a 3 minute walk from the house). Dublin is a great city for walking, plenty of pubs, restaurants & places to visit - I can compile a comprehensive "visitor pack" for you. The Phoenix Park is one of the largest enclosed recreational spaces in Europe and is only a 25 minute drive and is also home to Dublin Zoo and Farmleigh House where a farmers market and open air music performances take place at weekends throughout the Summer and early Autumn.
For Golfers there are two golf courses (Hermitage Course and Lucan Golf Club) within a 5 minute drive of the house and the world famous K-Club (host of the 2006 Ryder Cup) is only a 20min drive. Just returned from successful home exchange in Rhode Island - beautiful part of the world and would enjoy going back there again sometime. I've travelled extensively both in Europe & USA. Would like to spend some time in US city - there is so much to see and do. Our best family holidays were those where we visited friends homes - it was great to feel like a local. I work full time as administrator - looking forward to spending more time travelling than working soon! A car is not necesary for Dublin city, but if you feel OK with driving a stick car on the "wrong side" of the road, then it might be possible to arrange for your visit.
