Our house is situated in the village of Oughterard right beside Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the republic of Ireland. This lake is famous for its brown trout and Salmon fishing. It is only 17km into Galway City - The City of the Tribes.Oughterard marks the start of the beautiful Connemara National Park, with breathtaking scenery. Ideal for hiking, walking, cycling or just driving. There are plenty of places to eat in Oughterard with small resturants and plenty of bars. There is two supermarkets, chemists, post office, butchers, church and everything you would find in a small town. If you like golf there is a beautiful golf course in Oughtetard.Right beside our house is a boat tour to the famous Ashford Castle and Cong village on the other side of the lake. It is well worth taking this trip. See http://www.oughterardtourism.com
Something about ourselves
My husband is self employed with his own transport company and I work as a manager in Adult Education specialising in adult literacy. We have four children. Two girls and two boys. Ages 12, 11, 9, 5. We like to travel and see new places. This house is owned by myself and my three sisters who also live in Ireland. We have spent many happy years here as children and now get to enjoy it with our own children. We will respect and mind your home. As this is our second home we are available to swap anytime and happy to meet you when you arrive in Ireland.
