Our apartment is situated in West-Amsterdam, well know for its cultural climate which ads very much to its livelyhood. 'West' is one of Amsterdam's older neighbourhoods, apart from the centre, pre-dating the second world war. It is filled with beautiful architecture and old historical buildings.
The apartment is located in a side street between the well known streets 'Overtoom' and 'Kinkerstraat'. This side street is called 'Jan Pieter Heijestraat' and it is filled with nice bars, places to eat, shops and local supermarkets. Also a daily open straat market is a 5 minute walk away.
The 'Overtoom' and 'Kinkerstraat' are both well known local streets in Amsterdam, located just on the edge of the centre which will give you a great feeling of local amsterdam life. The 'Overtoom' has been under construction for many years but is now evolving into one of Amsterdam's prime shopping streets. The famous 'Leidse square' is very close by, as are the famous 'Rijksmuseum', 'van Gogh Museum' and the 'Concertgebouw'. The famous 'Vondelpark' is practically your back garden since it is at walking distance (only 10 minutes).
We have bicycles available for you to use and public transport tram lines 17 and 7, which are both direct lines to some of Amsterdam's most famous attractions, are practically outside the door (1 minute walk) and will take you there in less than 10 minutes.

We are Thami and Anouk, a young couple from Amsterdam who love to travel! Thami is working as an audio technician and is in his final year of studying at the Academy of Arts in Utrecht, majoring in music composition and production. Thami is a native from Amsterdam, and since he has lived here his whole life he can give you great advice on places to go in this wonderful city, depending on your interests. I (Anouk), was born in Hong Kong and have lived in Asia for a large part of my life. I am now studying philosophy at the University of Amsterdam.
We have both travelled a lot in our short lives and the thing we love about traveling is getting a small taste of how life is for people who live in a different place than our own. That is one of the main reasons we joined home for exchange, because we believe that traveling locally hugely enriches the experience of being in a different place. We think swapping homes with people who like to travel the same way is a great concept and we would take care of your home with the utmost care and respect for the simple reason that you would be prepared to invite us into your home! In short we are looking forward to our first exchange!
