We are proud to offer you for exchange our beautiful home filled with American antiques in the most beautiful and safest garden neighborhood of Berkeley, within easy walking distance of our local shopping street with fine restaurants and shops. Sunny light kitchen. Master bedroom has filtered view of San Francisco. My husband is a pianist and there is a Grotian Steinweg grand piano in our living room for your use. Car exchange is optional. The bunk beds downstairs (as shown in the photo) have been recently changed for a new Queen bed and the upstairs bedrooms have a California King Bed and a double bed. There is a small full bathroom with shower upstairs and a larger bathroom, with tub and separate shower, downstairs. Berkeley is always cool at night so there is no air conditioning. We are a pet-free, non-smoking house. We love our beautiful garden-filled neighborhood and our neighbors will welcome you warmly.

Our neighborhood is in the North lower Berkeley hills and has beautiful homes with well-kept gardens. There is a very nice park at the end of the block. We are a 7 minute walk to Solano Avenue, a neighborhood friendly shopping area with supermarket, bakery, cleaners, shoe repair, and, most important, wonderful restaurants. We are also an easy walk to one of many public buses that take you for a short ride to either BART, our local subway system that runs to San Francisco and the Airport, or into downtown San Francisco. It is actually quicker to get to downtown San Francisco from Berkeley than it is from many parts of San Francisco. Something about ourselves

Varya is a recently retired attorney and Charles is a musician/composer/artist. We love art and music, and our house is filled with both at all times. We have been doing house exchanges since 1991 to Europe, initially with our two children who are now grown up and have wanderlust of their own. Some of our best friends remain those people we have met and stayed with over the years in many countries. We are now planning to take advantage of our retirement years by traveling together through an exchange once a year for about a month. In addition, Varya has traveled extensively all over Asia (she lived in India for 2 years) and is working on starting an Asian tour group to share her love of Asia with others.
