Description of our house

Our home is modern (5 years old) townhouse 30 minutes walking distance across the Adelaide parklands to the CBD. We live adjacent to Unley shops, an older upmarket suburb of Adelaide. Absolutely all usual services and amenities are 2-5 minutes walk away. The kids left home ages ago and we rattle around in this large premises by ourselves. The master bedroom upstairs is large with a balcony and views through the trees to the city. A bathroom and a study are also upstairs. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, an extensive bathroom, a laundry, a separate toilet and washbasin, and a large kitchen dining family area. This family room overlooks a small courtyard and a BBQ area. There is also a two car garage.

Unley is one of Adelaide's original villages, situated on the plains just outside the centrally planned CBD. There is a combination of wide streets, like ours, with housing blocks becoming smaller as one walks towards the city. Houses are at least 100 years old except for the odd modern building. There are no huge apartment complexes. The streets are well kept with mature plain trees and eucalypts in profusion. A community sports oval is 2 minutes walk away and in the morning joggers and dog walkers take in the usually perfect azure skies. The bus stop is 2 minutes away (10 minutes to CBD), and taxis to the city are cheap, but we often prefer to cycle to the city on the designated bike track. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are two teachers/education workers who are approaching a certain critical age. Our two boys are long gone but also love travel like us. We are hikers and kayakers and generally like travelling when there is some physical effort involved. After living in the Aussie outback for years and work stints in Hong Kong and Vietnam we have made Adelaide our home in the last 15 years. Not far from the desert and on the edge of the southern ocean Adelaide's dry climate and accessibility make it Australia's most liveable city. We also love our food and usually shop at Adelaide's central market, Australia's best food and produce market, or a nearby farmer's market. We try and use local produce and cook at home a lot. We have have some time off from January to June/July 2014 and are looking for month-long swaps. ![]()
