Our Victorian Villa was built in 1862, the same time as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire Village which borders our street.

The rooms are lofty and full of character. We have three reception rooms, four bedrooms(two king size, one with en-suite, and two single rooms, one with an extra single if required)and two bathrooms with baths, power showers and underfloor heating. There is a wood burning stove in the dining room, an open grate in the living room and gas central heating throughout.

The kitchen is well equipped with a three oven, six burner gas stove, dishwasher, espresso machine and all the rest you would expect. From the kitchen you have access to the south facing garden which is a perfect spot for entertaining and quite a suntrap where you can get glimpses of Baildon Moor beyond.

We have HD Cable boxes in each of the living rooms, a WII for the kids and high speed broadband with wi-fi throughout the house. There are three bikes available to use for the essential cycle rides along the canal to Bingley Five Rise Locks one way and to Leeds in the other.

Saltaire is a wonderful place to live and visit. The Village was built by the Industrialist Sir Titus Salt to house his alpaca mill workers in the 1860's and was made a World Heritage Site because it is so intact and unspoilt. Designed to cater for all conceivable needs, it was built in an Italianate style at the convergence of the River Aire, the Leeds Liverpool Canal and the railway with the backdrop of the rolling hills of Baildon Moor. It has always been well connected!

Salt built a beautiful park where now you will find a bandstand with a full summer itinerary, cricket and a great little cafe. Salt's Mill itself has now been converted into high quality shops and a free art gallery housing the World's largest collection of David Hockney work. Victoria Hall hosts frequent events such as Vintage Fairs, concerts and talks. There is always something interesting going on. Within five minutes walk from our house is a deli, butcher, baker, gift shops, a regular farmer's market and at least three great restaurants, two tennis clubs, a swimming pool and a golf club. There is also a choice of real ale pubs with live music. You will be spoilt for choice. Saltaire is part of Bradford, the first UNESCO City of Film which hosts international film festivals and the National Media Museum. Bradford is also the Curry capital of Britain! The choice is astounding.

Saltaire is the starting point for the Dales Highway walking trail. Shipley Glen is at the end of the street, and Ilkley Moor is over the hill. Within a half hour's drive you are into the Yorkshire Dales. Walking opportunities abound. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are spectacular features deserving a visit. Bolton Abbey is also nearby. A trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley steam train will take you to the Bronte town of Haworth.

Only 8 mins walk to the train station and 14 mins train ride will take you into the buzzing city of Leeds. For culture there is the Henry Moore Gallery and the Royal Armouries Museum. However the shopping there is first class with Harvey Nichols and the Victoria Quarter to while away the time. There are a dangerous number of shoe shops...

For day trips to London there are direct trains which take just over 2.5 hours. Historic York is only 45 mins away.

My husband and I are both architects in our 40s and have a 11yr old daughter. We love to travel and like to go to unusual and less obvious destinations. We like dramatic landscapes, historic sites, architecture, cafes and restaurants. We need to go away during school holidays though short haul weekends would be ideal too.

We are especially interested in the USA; the colonial east coast, the mid-west(Yellowstone or around Deadwood for example) or the north west coast. Equally, short breaks closer to home would appeal, UK or europe. But really, we are up for anything!

For simultaneous exchanges with people abroad, a car exchange is possible. We have a four wheel drive automatic.

We would treat your home with the utmost respect.
