Description of our house

![]() ]
Our house is a spacious, stylish Victorian family home with many period features and a large walled garden with summer house, decked areas and pond. It is double fronted and has a great feeling of space and is set within a peaceful friendly street in a trendy part of London, East Dulwich. The house has been fully renovated but still has many period features such as working marble fireplaces, a wood burning stove in the kitchen and stripped wooden floors and chandeliers in most rooms. The house has been used for a TV shoot and as a location in a magazine but above all it is a relaxed and comfortable family home which could easily accommodate two families. Many of the rooms have been opened out to give more of a feeling of space and the house is simply but tastefully furnished. The main living rooms have french doors opening out onto a patio with table for outside dining, there is also a barbequeue, and the large kitchen dining room can seat ten comfortably. A cosy conservatory has a sofa and chair at the back of the house looking out onto the garden, again with large french doors which open out. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom complete with Victorian style claw footed bath in the centre of the room and two marble fireplaces. The family bathroom is newly renovated. The large bedroom at the top of the house has been made into a teenage den with table football and sofas etc. There are bicycles and full size table tennis.

East Dulwich is a peaceful green enclave yet the city centre is in easy reach by public transport. Our road has many friendly neighbours who will help you, it's a family orientated place and a large park is within a few minutes walk. There are other parks and even woodland very nearby. You can explore around here, take a walk through Dulwich Park to the art gallery in the village and there are tons of specialist shops, organic butchers and greengrocers, boutiques and even a traditional sweetshop. This area is renowned for its many great resturants such as traditional English (even an upmarket fish and chip restaurant) and many Thai, Indian, Italian and French resturants. You can eat in a different one each day! There are lots of lovely cafes, bars and some nice traditional English pubs, many serving food and where you can sit outside in summer months. A bustop at the end of our road takes you right to the heart of London but a short walk up the hill takes you to a London Tube stop where frequent trains run into the centre in about ten minutes or to Stratford within twenty minutes. We are also well placed for exploring the Kent and Sussex countryside in the south and even the buzzing places on the south coast such as Brighton. From here you can easily get the train to Paris or from the coast get the ferry over either for a day trip or a few days visit to France. This is a great base for a relaxing break yet with London's art galleries, museums, theatres on your doorstep Something about ourselves

We are a professional couple with two lovely and well behaved teenagers 19 & 17 who will care for your home as we do our own. We all love travelling and seeing as much of the world as possible so are very open to suggestions. We like cities and rural and beach settings and like most activities such as swimming, horseriding, walking and skiing. I am a journalist and my husband is a childrens fund manager. We are all animal lovers and will more than happily look after any animals and pets you may have as my daughter is particularly passionate about animals. We go out a lot and can recommend cinemas, theatre and many resturants and will give you lots of help and suggestions if you want them. We have exchanged many times before with great success and feel it's a lovely way of travelling comfortably and really getting to know somewhere. We are now offering our house as a great base to enjoy the nearby Olympic Games in July/August and are seeking something special in return. ![]()
