We have recently converted part of this lovely old produce store into a comfortable, spacious apartment. It retains many of the original features and has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It has a large open plan living area, undercover courtyard with barbeque, ideal for entertaining. The main studio bedroom with ensuite has french doors opening on to the verandah .There is a good sized terraced garden with many fruit trees ,lovely to sit in and overlook the town.
Just a short walk takes you to the sidewalk cafes and the friendly atmosphere only a small country town can offer.
The building has modern heating and cooling systems
This is on ongoing conversion so there are more rooms and other areas being developed which will also be part of the exchange.I hope to complete the project by the end of 2010,early 2011. Maldon is a historic gold mining town classifed by the National Trust. It has many attractions including a steam train, various festivals throughout the year and the picturesque surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking. It sits at the base of Mt Tarranger.
Close to several larger tourist towns, it is an ideal central location for touring. Melbourne is only 1 1/2 hours drive away. There is a good bus service to surroundindg towns and the train to Melbourne has regular daily services from nearby Castlemaine.
There are also many markets and festivals ( folk and jazz music, food and wine etc.) in the neighbouring towns and rural cities .Always something going on somewhere in the area!
The weather is generally good ,winter days can be cold but the sun usually shines for part of the day. Maldon is a historic gold mining town classifed by the National Trust. Hi there,my name is Leonie.I am a senior but very young at heart Sadly my partner of many years ,passed away 8 months ago. I retired from nursing in 2008 but am still operating two B&Bs.I have visited many countries over the years and love to travel .I have been a Wwoofer host for 20 yrs so have enjoyed the company of people from many countries over this time. (Willing workers on organic farms)
My main hobby has been renovating old houses, gardening, furniture restoration and going to flea markets.swap meets ,antique fairs.garage sales auctions etc.I am afraid to say that both Greg and myself would have fitted into the catagory of "mad" collectors and have a house full to prove it!
I can be fairly open and flexible as to time and destination but I am not fond of really cold weather these days.
I live in an 1890's Austrailian style homestead (with 2 very old 19yr old cats ) on 12 acres situated just out of town (1km ) but still an easy walk to the shops etc.Kangaroos often range free in the garden and there are many native birds.I could also offer my home as a non simultaneousexchange if a more country experience is preferred .Talk to me anytime. .
