Burlington is located on Lake Ontario about mid way between Toronto and Niagara Falls. The City has been careful to preserve waterfront access for its residents and there are beautiful waterfront parks and hiking and biking trails. Immediately north of the City there is rolling countryside and the Niagara Escarpment which is ideal for leisurely walks and for biking.

Toronto is a very large city with a huge variety of restaurants, theatres, concert halls, boutiques, museums and other places of interest. Niagara is about a 45 min. drive through wine country where many of the wineries have wine tasting, gourmet meals and musical entertainment.

During the summer and fall there are many festivals of all types in the area - the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake; the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford; the Jazz Festival in the Beaches; the world renowned International Film Festival in Toronto.

If you want to explore further afield to experience the unique culture of French Canada there is a great train service from Burlington to Montreal and Quebec City which is celebrating its 400th anniversary in 2008.

We are an active retired couple who enjoy travelling to sunny locations. That's why we escape the Canadian winter by going to our condo in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico which is also listed on the Home Exchange service (#6995). We also enjoy camping in our travel trailer which we keep at a resort on the world's longest fresh water beach about 2 1/4 hrs north of Burlington.
