Nijverdal is a small town in Twente, a touristic area in the east part of the Netherlands, close to the German border (30 min. by car). Very special is the scenery of the National Park "De Sallandse Heuvelrug" (5 min. by car), where you can hike and bike for hours. You find forest and moorlands, which will be in a magnificent purple bloom in the months of August and September and where you can enjoy beautiful views. In our home we have lots of hike, bike and car routes for a large area around our home. Not far by car you'll find attractive old cities, like Deventer, Zutphen, Zwolle and Kampen with many museums. One of the most famous, typical Dutch villages is Giethoorn with lots of small canals, farm-like houses and bridges. The town is very picturesque! Shopping possibilities are in Almelo, Hengelo, Enschede and Zwolle, but also Nijverdal offers all you need. The nearest supermarket is just 300 meters away. Amsterdam, our capital, is just 1.5/2 hrs by car or train. There you can spend more than one day to discover all the museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank-house and many more), the restaurants and cafés. A canal cruise is a must! Amsterdam airport is 2 hours by car or train, and it's an easy drive of 80 minutes to the German airport of Münster /Weeze/Düsseldorf where you have many possibilities for trips in Europe as well. We have a car Suzuki Liana (06/2006) with automatic transmission, which we offer for exchange. Something about ourselves

We are Ria and René, both in our mid 60's. We have 2 grown-up sons. Our favorite activities are travelling, hiking, biking, dancing, swimming and playing bridge. René is a retired project manager at KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) and Ria a retired travel agent. When the children were young, we had many exchanges (17)between 1983-1995. We moved to Nijverdal in June 2007 and love our new home. We are very careful and treat your home like we do our own. We had 6 exchanges in 2009/2010/2011, Australia (Brisbane, Perth), Canada (Fredericton, Calgary, Vancouver) and Switzerland. In 2012 we like an European exchange. ![]()
