Our home is a 50 year old, 4 bedroom, former farmhouse surrounded by fields and with far-reaching views, even though we are only just outside the market town of Frome, and half an hour's drive from Bath Spa. We have a half acre (2000 sq. metres)sunny garden with shrubs, trees, two ponds, greenhouse and lots of seating. Inside are polished wooden floors with rugs, and comfortable sofas and large windows looking out to the fields and hills beyond. The sitting room has a wood-burner to supplement the central heating and is very cosy in winter. We have a flat screen TV in the sitting room. In the day/dining room is our main dining table and also comfortable chairs looking out on the garden and the view beyond. The kitchen is a good size, and was updated in September 2011 with new oven, hob and extractor fan, a central island and freestanding units combined with fitted cupboards. We have an office on the ground floor as well as a conservatory both of which look out on the large back garden and formal pond and fountain. At the end of the garden is the vegetable patch and wildlife pond and an arbour to sit and relax.
Upstairs are four good-sized bedrooms, one King size bed, one Queen, and two singles. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Downstairs is an extra cloakroom with toilet and a utility room with washing-machine.
We can exchange our car too, a Seat Ibiza, subject to insurance requirements.
We are careful people who love our home and garden and welcome other similar people to enjoy it too. We are half a mile (1km)outside the historic market town of Frome http://www.frome-tc.gov.uk and only fifteen miles (23km) from the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath Spa http://visitbath.co.uk . Frome has deservedly become more of a tourist site in recent years, dating back as it does to the Middle Ages, its old buildings complemented by interesting shops and art galleries, and excellent coffee shops.
Bath itself needs little introduction with its Jane Austen connections, Georgian buildings and Roman Baths. It is deservedly a world heritage city plus with museums and galleries and a recently built Thermae Spa where you can bathe in the natural hot springs.
As well as these attractions we are surrounded by lovely countryside and a wealth of historic and cultural places and gardens to visit. 16th century Longleat House with a Safari park is only a 10 minute drive. Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, the Cathedral cities of Wells, Winchester and Salisbury are all easy trips by car. Frome has train access to London a journey of about 1.5 - 2 hours. We are Willm and Judy, in our mid-sixties and now both retired from work in health and research. We have lived in Frome for twenty-seven years and so know the area well. We have found that previous exchangers enjoy it too.
We are experienced exchangers having done 20 so far over fourteen years - in Australia, the US, Canada, the UK, and several other European countries.
Currently we would like to explore England and the rest of the UK and we would like to go to Herault to visit friends who live near Lodeve: having an exchange would enable us to be independent
We respond to all emails and are very happy to answer queries and provide more photographs. We like to make use of the Home Exchange agreement provided on the site to finalise agreements.
