Our home is a 55 year old, 4 bedroom, former farmhouse surrounded by fields and with far-reaching views, even though we are only just outside the market town of Frome http://en.wikipedia.org and half an hour's drive from Bath Spa. We have a half acre (2000 sq. metres)sunny garden with shrubs, trees, two ponds, greenhouse and lots of seating. Inside are polished wooden floors with rugs, and comfortable sofas and large windows looking out to the fields and hills beyond. The sitting room has a wood-burner to supplement the central heating and is very cosy in winter. We have a flat screen TV in the sitting room. In the day/dining room is our main dining table and also comfortable chairs looking out on the garden and the view beyond. The kitchen is a good size, designed with a central island and freestanding units combined with fitted cupboards. We have an office on the ground floor as well as a conservatory both of which look out on the large back garden and formal pond and fountain. At the end of the garden is the vegetable patch and wildlife pond and an arbour to sit and relax.
Upstairs are four good-sized bedrooms, one King size bed, one Queen, and two singles. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Downstairs is an extra cloakroom with toilet and a utility room with washing-machine.
We are careful people who love our home and garden and welcome other similar people to enjoy it too.
We are half a mile (1km)outside the historic market town of Frome http://www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk http://en.wikipedia.org and only fifteen miles (23km) from the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath Spa http://visitbath.co.uk . Frome has deservedly become more of a tourist site in recent years, dating back as it does to the Middle Ages, its old buildings complemented by interesting shops and art galleries, and excellent coffee shops.
Bath itself needs little introduction with its Jane Austen connections, Georgian buildings and Roman Baths. It is deservedly a world heritage city plus with museums and galleries and a recently built Thermae Spa where you can bathe in the natural hot springs.
As well as these attractions we are surrounded by lovely countryside and a wealth of historic and cultural places and gardens to visit. 16th century Longleat House with a Safari park is only a 10 minute drive. Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge https://www.english-heritage.org.uk , Glastonbury Tor, the Cathedral cities of Wells http://www.wellssomerset.com Winchester and Salisbury http://www.visitwiltshire.co.uk are all easy trips by car. Frome has train access to London a journey of about 1.5 - 2 hours.
We are Willm and Judy, in our late sixties and now both retired from professions in health and research. Judy loves to make patchwork quilts and Willm writes on health and social issues.
We have lived in Frome for twenty-nine years and so know the area well. We have found that previous exchangers have really enjoyed being here, please see our recommendations.
We are experienced exchangers having done 28 so far over 18 years - in Australia, the US, Canada, the UK, France, Spain, Switzerland, Sardinia and the Netherlands. We now plan to travel in the UK and Europe and currently favour the south of France and Switzerland. We respond to all emails and are very happy to answer queries and provide more photographs. We like to make use of the Home Exchange agreement provided on the site to finalise agreements.
