Our house is a nice and comfortable, semi detached home, that has been recently renovated. It has everything to enjoy a wonderful holiday where you have all the benefits of living in a pretty historic town, as well as the possibility to explore the beautiful green surroundings, sights and cities. The kitchen has a modern kitchen island with espresso machine and all other necessary equipment, there is a bathroom with walk-in-shower and bath, 2 toilets. The doors of the kitchen open to our sunny, private garden (with swings and a little play house). From the house it is a 100 meters to the river dike from where you have a beautiful view over the meadows and the river. Here you can enjoy a nice walk or bike ride alongside the river to the centre of town (10 minutes). We are sure you will like this as much as we do and other home exchangers did! We live in a charming historic town called Zutphen, which is only 75 minutes east of Amsterdam. It lies alongside the river IJssel, by many voted as the most beautiful river in Holland. Zutphen has a 'Charles Dickens feel' to it, it is a lovely small town with bendy streets with all kinds of nice shops, specialty stores, organic shops and 2 weekly markets (big range of organic food), museums, a cinema, theater, cosy bars and restaurants etc. The area is famous in Holland for it's beauty and laid back feel and there are many nice villages and cities around.
Besides this you can easily enjoy the beautiful scenery with small rivers, forests, farms, castles and windmills (you can use our bikes to explore!). If you drive about 25-30 minutes, you enter the largest National Parc, de "Hoge Veluwe" with the Kroller Moller museum where you find many famous paintings of Van Gogh. If you have children, they can play with our children's toys and in one of the playgrounds in the neighboorhood a stonesthrow away. You can also visit one of the theme parcs within 30-60 minutes drive, if you like. There is a lake where you can sun bath and swim (1 km away) and a swimmingpool (6 minutes drive). If you like cycling or hiking there a dozens of options and you can use our bikes (and seats for the children). If you like nature and you want to have a scenic canoe tour, then you can rent a canoe and picknick on the way. Very relaxing and beautiful!
Since our town is located in the heart of The Netherlands, it is easy to explore our country from here. E.g. Amsterdam (75 minutes), Utrecht (1 hour) and The Hague (2 hours). If you like, you can easily visit and explore Germany during a day tour, the cities Dusseldorf and Cologne/Koln are only about 1,5 hours away. We are Hugo and Bianca (in our late 30's) and we have 2 daughters called Isa (5) & Nora (3,5). We run a business in organising company events and we are neat and honest people. We don't smoke. In case we will swap, you don't have to worry: We will take care of your house as if it is ours.
WE CAN SWAP FOR A LONG WEEKEND UP TILL +- 6 MONTHS, so a long term exchange is considered.
For the summer we are mostly interested in a 2-4 week holiday in Europe, f.e. United Kingdom, South of France, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Switserland, Germany, Sweden or Austria.
WE ARE LOOKING TO EXCHANGE HOMES WITH PEOPLE FROM OVERSEAS, FROM AROUND THE 10TH-15TH OF DECEMBER 2011 - BEGINNING OF JANUARY 2012 or DURING SUMMER 2012. In winter we prefer a destination in the sun, while you enjoy a white Christmas in our home. Yet, we are open to any nice and new experience, so don't hesitate to surprise us!
