Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our home is best described as 'plantation style' with cathedral ceilings and shuttered doors opening onto spacious verandas offering views to the Atlantic and Caribbean seas. With mostly wooden floors, a spacious sunken living room leads to a small libary looking out over the rain forest garden and hills beyond. We have a large farmhouse style eat-in kitchen. An open tread staircase leads to a master en suite bedroom with and three double/twin rooms, all with balconies looking over the capital, Scarborough & out to sea. There are two further shower rooms. Attached but self-contained is a single space apartment which opens onto a small dipping pool and sun deck area. The rainforest garden is ideal for bird watching and has tropical fruits in season. There is no need for air con as the open fretwork allows for cross breezes. We use the house for retreats and offer B & B for most of the year. A choice of beaches are within 10/15 minutes way. We do recommend transport and could leave our rather elderly Suzuki Samurai jeep if required. We have two very friendly Tobago'pothounds'Honey & Rocky who live outside and several cats, although only one, Shiva is a house cat.

Idlewild is a rural environment although not isolated (the capital, Scarborough is only 10 minutes away) and there is a small supermarket at the bottom of the hill, just five minutes by jeep. We are ideally situated to explore the island and for a small island - only 22 by 12 miles - there is much to do and see. We have a 'house book' with info on tours/trips and eating/watering holes, the best places to 'lime' For explanation of this local pastime, please see our website at the homepage. ![]() Something about ourselves

I am an English yoga teacher, Ginny married to a Tobagonian, Kelly. When we are not busy entertaining our visitors from all over the world, we love to dance! We like to travel to the UK annually as I have three adult sons there but being single and living in inner cities (London and Glasgow) they don't have space for us. Having lived in the UK for most of my life, I have friends all over and therefore like to have a central base in June or July (Wimbledon & strawberry time!) We would be open for ideas for other times depending on how busy we are, particularly to other islands in the Caribbean We also sail, a new found pastime, and would like to be in the BVI's, Bequia or Antigua at Regatta time. ![]()
