Snorkel, dive or swim right off the front deck to choice of three reefs! If you are coming to be on the Caribbean, these three rustic/comfortable bungalows fit your need! Large decks & porches with wooden swings offer great views of Utila and the Caribbean.
Each Bungalow or the Bodega Apartment are equiped for two, so the trade is for 2, 4 or 6 persons! Air conditioning, kitchenettes, comfortable beds, hot water showers, sand-fly screens and little boom boxes make your time inside cozy and comfortable. Covered porches on two units have wooden porch swings and tables and chairs. There is a wooden champa with a bar for use by all.
Mambo sailboats and kayaks are available to use! The Bungalows sit between the Caribbean and the Oyster Bay Lagoon. There is a dock to the lagoon, a perfect spot to kayak to the North Side of the Island or watch a sunset.
The views are spectacular, the water is warm and the beds are comfortable. About 1 mile down the beach road to town. Snorkel, dive or swim right off the front deck to choice of three reefs! Utila is a top dive destination in the world! It lies on the largest barrier reef (The Mayan Reef) in the northern hemisphere. There are 13 PADI dive schools on the island, offering certification for about $169 (all inclusive). Also deep sea fishing, hand line fishing with locals, snorkeling, whale shark watching, paragliding and sailing, and many watersports are available.
The Blue Bayou Bungalows are 1 mile from town and there is not much but palm trees between the Bungalows and Cheppie White Hole (local swimming spot). Food is excellent in small restaurants, mostly open air, and very inexensive... lobster dinners for under $10.
English and Spanish are spoken equally. The island lies 13 miles from the mainland city of La Ceiba and can be reached by ferry 3 times daily (1 hr) or by plane twice daily (about 10 min.).
Utila is safe. Utila town is the only town on the Island and most everything and everyone is within walking distance in this little known island paradise.
